Do you open the car door for women?

So, do you? I'm somewhere between 'Regularly' and 'Only to impress', working towards 'Regularly'. It's not something I grew up being exposed to, but something I think we as men should be doing.

'tis part of showing respect for women.

To be quite honest, I almost always open the car door for women. I also open other doors for women. Heck, I open some doors for guys too, just to be polite. I must admit that sometimes I do it only to impress, but since I do it regularly anyways...

Well guys, us girls appreciate it.

Sadly, being in So Cali, guys opening any door for a woman is rare. I guess most So Cali guys don't know how to be gentlemen Or Femminists have taken it to the extreme

Or both. At the urging of feminists, chivalry is pretty much dead. It's rare to see a guy under 30 years old hold a door for a woman anymore, nevermind open the car door. As a result of being called "Male Chauvaunist Pigs" for so many years, guys began to believe that it was true, and lived up to the name. So, after being told that they were pigs for 30 years, guys have become pigs. It's also due to the fact that we, as a society, are getting more and more selfish, and less and less considerate of others. And that goes back to being told that nobody has the right to tell you what to do, you have the right to do what you want, and a lack of good old fashioned discipline. Read the book "Dumbing Down Our Kids" by Charles Sykes. Then the state of our generation will make a lot of sense.

i try to, as long as they don't beat me to it lol...i've gotten some really weird looks though, and sometimes they are rude about it...but i still try...here in IL, tho....it often seems like i'm the only one...it seems often that such traditions as opening doors for women are better kept in the south...

Yeah... and that is really sad cuz the people that get stuck in the middle of all that gobbly goop feminist stuff are the more tradional younger women like myself.

Heya,

I try to do it, with all doors.. but sometimes it's really hard, cause they ussually beat me to it (at least with car doors.) lol - I think the general practice is a good one for sure though.

"When two elephants fight, it's the grass that suffers."

-African Proverb

When you get two big groups having a go at eachother, (the feminists and the anti-feminist guys) it's the average Joe and Jane who get stuck in the middle of it, and end up taking the most casualties.

Example: After 30 years of feminist mud slinging, men decided that it was time to sling some of their own (as if two wrongs ever made a right). Witness the Bud Light commercials over the past three years. They're taking what is stereotypically female activity, and putting it into a sarcastic light, while glorifying the stereotypical "male pig". The Al Bundy, or Homer Simpson.

It's making people think that it's okay for women to call men pigs, and it's okay for men to act like pigs.

I think it is so awesome when guys open doors for girls! There's a couple guys in my youth group who do, and almost all the guys at this camp I was at this summer did, too.

Keep it up, all you guys who do!

Car doors, not often. I'm usually in the car and can't get to the door before someone else. But I often open other doors.

I don't open car doors. I'm usually driving, and girls (here anyway) don't expect you to, their door is open before you would have time to get there.

I usually hold doors though, for most people, if I'm in a group or whatever with them. Dunno why, must be a personality thing.
