I beg to differ. That piece kind of annoys me.

Okay, this isn't really moving at all, but I really like it, so I'm going to talk about it anyways. "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky. Very cool, great low brass parts, excellent ebb and flow to it. Definitely dark and creepy, though (not a bad thing, eh?)

Oh, my orchestra played that last year for a competition and in Disneyland. Awesome piece!! Although the harp part leaves something to be desired...harp doesn't come in till like 20 measures after W or something like that...and then it's just a D arpeggio, inverting as it goes up. Same four notes, over and over.....haha. But it's fun

I guess when i hear the word moving I think emotional, tears-runing-down, heartwarming music.

I love dark, creepy classical music. That's the MOST moving.

Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring"

This is opera, but Mozart's Mozart "Der Holle Rache Kocht" (Queen of the Night) is just amazing.

I also like the Allegro in Vivaldi's Summer, especially Vanessa Mae's version. Pachabel Canon is also great, if cliche. Oh, and Mozart's Requiem. And Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #2 is very uplifting.

oh yeah! i think one of the most moving, or should i say levitating, pieces i've heard is the ode to joy in beethoven's ninth---i was levitating right off the chair when i heard a chorus do it!!:keek:
i was right in the front of the auditorium, too.
i almost laughed, cried, shivered, sweated, lived and died--all at the same time.

i also can hardly believe The Messiah and Creation (haydn).
beethoven, during composition of Hallelujah chorus, said that he saw the heavens open up and the great God himself! (well, i have to say that i almost do, too, when i hear the Amen from the Messiah at full blast. wow...!)
and haydn, with arms upstretched, said in reply to spontaneous applause during the Creation, said "Not from me. It all comes form above."
