Our church uses either NIV or NLT. NIV is my fave, 'cuz I memorize out of it, too. I also like The Message for my personal devotions.

90 % of the time I use the NIV, but I sometimes read or refer to the Jerusalem Bible. It is an English translation of a French translation of the Bible.

It too is accurate, but has some interesting things when compared to NIV or NASB. For example, in the OT, where NIV translates the name of God as LORD, the Jerusalem Bible translates as "Yahweh".

As a side note, one of the editors who helped in the preparation of this Bible was J.R.R. Tolkien.

Wow! You also use the JB? That's awesome! Aside from the whole Tolkien thing, and the fact that it uses Yaweh, it also has all of that nifty apocrypha. Well, not all of it's nifty, but some of it is. I do generally use NIV (or as my friend says, the "Non-Inspired Version), but the JB is great. It has some very good translations you couldn't see otherwise. The only downside is that some apocrypha is just wierd, and the thing is monstrously big (brought to you by your Department of Redundancy Department).

Peace

Yeah, you have a way of letting everyone know how you feel, usually with Bible quotes attached, and will think your way through the issues,
although sometimes you make no sense! You aren't always sure of yourself, and you can change your mind about things, something you actually consider a strength. You can take solitude, especially with some music.<br></font></td></tr>

While I do tend to be rather indecisive, and I like the way that "theologian thing" summed me up; I am reading a book ("Inerrancy and the Church" - 1984) that argues that Luther was quite consistent with his stuff (concerning the authority of scripture, anyhow). not that he never made any hyperbolic statements one way or another to prove a point...

Arrow NLT<NIV

Well I use NLT, and NIV. I like them both but when I was at Bethany Bible College. Most days in class we would have debaits about what is the best translation. It would turn out that the Prof.s would say that KJV. does not have everything in it

I use the English Standard Version (ESV) mainly. But NASB is also good. NIV is still very common in oz. But they all have uses.

I usually read out of the NIV. I really needed a new Bible, 'cause my old one was falling to pieces on me. A friend of mine bought my NIV for me, it's a really nice one too.

Talking What is my preferred translation of the BIBLE?

My preferred version is the KJV because it is the exact translation of the 1500 manuscript in the greek and hebrew. Why has man watered it down in the name of easier to understand. God's word is quick, powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. It doesn't need a million translations God reveals it to man as we read it. Why do we have to smooth things over to make it more acceptable.

Actually, a lot of other translations are more accurate than the KJV.
