| What about NRSV? I chose other b/c i primarily read from the NRSV. The New Amer. Standard i good too. Both of these try to remain true to the original languages. as for the KJV, well, from what i've learn, its NT is translated mostly from 10th - 16th century manuscripts. there are many older manuscripts that seem to hold a lot more water than the ones used for the KJV. wait, isn't the KJV the authoritative word of God? well, that's all i know |

| I prefer to use NLT as it is written for the people of this century to understand. Even the NIV sometimes is hard to understand, and the KJV was written for the people when James of King of England! So it isn't even meant for us to understand. Some churches only believe in the KJV or NKJV and think that other translations are changing the word. I have something to think about for them: If you people are so against using other translations than the KJV or NKJV why do you use a changed Bible? The KJV was changed from the original manuscripts of the Bible, so I think those churches should use those if they are going to be that legalistic! (I don't mean to cause offense to these churches, but it's something to think about!)

| I chose NIV because it is easier for me to understand. It makes it easier for me to get into really reading the Bible instead of struggling to interpret it.

| I am doing my best to use the ESV (English Standard Version) and I also use the NIV as well. Though, I am studying Biblical Greek and HEbrew in college, so hopefully I will be able to translate from the original Greek and Hebrew which is much more accurate than any English translation.

| Which Bible Version? I prefer to read two versions, first the NIV and then the Amplified Bible. Never really could understand the KJV. Nothing against it at all, but the NIV is much easier for me to understand and the Amplified just puts it in plain english! |

| Personally I use the NAS, but my Chemistry teacher, a Christian who can read Greek and Hebrew, and so mostly reads the Bible in these languages say that the Darby translation is the best. |

| I like the NLT when I'm just reading to learn and apply. But when I study I like to use NASB. Sometimes, though, Peterson conveys his point in an interesting fashion . . . so I tend to use his "translation" when I work with kids or youth.
-also-
I'm really liking the new HCSB - I just wish they would finish it sooner! When it comes out in 2004 it will be my main "sword." Does anyone like ESV; I've been wanting to check it out? |

It's my second favorite. My first being the NASB.

The NASB and ESV are the best if you want a real translation. DArby's version is an extremely literal translation that is very difficult to understnad at times.
