Say just a simple "Yes, I will" or "No I wont." Your word is enough. To strengthen your promise with a vow shows that something is wrong.

I have learned all to painfully lately that we are very quick to say what we think others want to hear.
I am one of those people. I am a "people pleaser" at times. Over extending myself or even saying things I don't mean...(LYING!)
As I am faced with my reflection not only in Gods mirror but also in the mirror of the eyes of the people I love and who love me, I see what false flattery, insincerity, loose boundaries, and a lack of Godly character looks like..........
It looks like a careless salesman willing to say anything to close "the deal." You know... a guy who never seems sincere ... we notice that the last part of this verse says "if you have to make vows then there is something wrong," the King James version says that whatsoever is more than yes and no comes from the evil one.
Guys, lets be people who strive to have to say very little because our actions already say SO MUCH...eli
