(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) August 26, 2002-- Essential Records' pop quartet True Vibe launches its sophomore release
See The Light with nine consecutive days of promotional events in major Christian music markets including Chicago, Dallas and Seattle. Among the week's activities are an appearance on Chicago-based television network WGN's morning show, post-game performances at multiple minor league baseball games, and retail/radio supported concerts.
The group began in Illinois last Monday, where they visited on-air with Christian radio station WONU, met with the editorial staff of publishing house Christianity Today International, home to Christianity Today and Campus Life magazines, and stopped by FISH-affiliated WZFS in Elk Grove Village for an afternoon interview. Release day, August 20th, kicked off early in Chicago with a 7:00 am guest appearance on WGN's morning show, viewed by an estimated audience of 157,000. Following WGN was a taping for the Total Living Network's "Total Living with Jerry Rose," syndicated to network affiliates in 90 cities and aired locally on TLN and PAX television in Chicago. True Vibe then readied for an album release concert where they performed music from
See The Light for more than 2000 enthusiastic fans. Hosted by retail chain Sam Goody in partnership with WONU, the packed-out Chicago event drew a three-hour autograph line.
True Vibe continued its state-to-state trek Thursday with a stop in Lansing, Michigan, as requested by radio's WLGH, to entertain baseball fans attending the Lansing Lugnuts game at Oldsmobile Park. Friday the foursome met up with Baton Rouge, Louisiana's Sunshine Christian Armory bookstore for an album signing session and later with Baker, LA radio station WQCK. The weekend consisted of another post-game concert, in cooperation with Seattle, Washington's KCMS and Christian Supply, this time for minor league baseball's Aqua Sox at Memorial Stadium in Everett, WA. The game set an all-time attendance record for the Sox, attracting nearly 5,000 fans, half of whom stayed to hear the concert. The promotional tour will end this Tuesday in Dallas, Texas with a KLTY morning show interview and brown-bag event at nearby Stonebriar Mall.
Also in support of
See The Light, True Vibe has been on the Summer JAM tour hosted by Reunion Records artist NewSong and featuring guest performers Brother's Keeper, Freddie Colloca, Rachael Lampa and Tait. In addition to the Summer JAM tour and festival appearances, True Vibe will team up with fellow pop artists Plus One, SoulJahz and Phat Chance on a 25-city Pure Pop tour this fall. Aside from live performances, fans can hear the latest from True Vibe via radio, as
See The Light's debut single and title track is currently climbing the Adult Contemporary chart, positioned at No. 13 this week.
True Vibe's self-titled recording was the year's highest-selling debut when it released in May 2001 and sparked the multi-format No. 1 and international hit song "Now and Forever." True Vibe later added to its radio success the No.1 single "Sweet Jesus" and two Top 5 songs "Jump, Jump, Jump" and "You Are The Way." In addition to appearances on the Radio Disney Live! World Tour 2001 and The CoverGirl Model Experience Contest, True Vibe performed the national anthem at ABC's Monday Night Football and other NFL, NBA and major league baseball events. Furthermore, True Vibe was featured on the soundtrack album for the 2001 Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies animated feature film, "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" and the title cut to the 2001 Miramax motion picture "On the Line" with *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
