| Hi guys! I haven't embraced modes as much as I should, but I have looked into them a bit. For a VI, II, V, I chord progression, the melodic minor scale works nicely (I know that's not a standard mode, but it works). You can hear it with piano here: http://www.tonydesmarteau.com/melmin6251.htm
Most guitarists live a long and satisfying life just knowing their major and minor scales. But yeah, some folks say knowing the modes is what separates the pros from the wannabes.
They say each mode has its own feel: Ionian is happy and upbeat, Dorian is a mix of happy & sad, Phrygian has a middle-east sound often used for dark, heavier rock, Lydian is an odd character because of its raised 4th step, Mixolydian is a laid-back relaxed version of major, Aeolian is the darkest & saddest, Locrian is the strangest and least used - it is a flattened version of Phrygian.
Nix has probably harmonized her vocals using the modes, without even knowing it. And that is because, well, haha as we all know: |

SO Nix how does it feel to be graduated?

| I only realised after I got it how important peices of paper are.
Without my qualification I would never have gotten the job I have.
