Is Terrell Davis a Hall of Famer?

What do you think?

I think yes.

Even though his career was short, you could arguably say he was the best running back of the 90's.

Plus if you look at his playoff statistics, he ran for over a 100 yards in seven of his eight playoff games, which means he turned it on in the playoffs.

Plus he's one of only a handful to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season.

yes he certainly deserves the hall of fame.
he was my fave running back, and it's too bad his career was so short. but, in that time, he did accomplish more than most running backs can do in an entire career. not only that, but he is a hall of fame person outside of the field.
he totally should be there.

this is what my face will look like if he doesn't get in

My face will look like that too.

Some people will discount him from being in the Hall of Fame by saying he had a short career, but look at Gale Sayers. He had a short career and he's in the Hall.

It's not his fault that he couldn't play anymore. He was just doing what he's always done in his career - the extra stuff - when he was hurt trying to tackle an interception return.

And you're right about him being a class guy on and off the field. I used to be the youth minister of my home church in Colorado, and Jason Elam, the Broncos kicker, went to my church. Well, he told me about some of the players, but when it came to Terrell, he always had the highest praise.

Jason is a great guy too. When I left my home church to go take another youth ministry position, he got a Terrell Davis jersey for me and had TD, Brian Griese, Eddie McCaffrey, Rod Smith, and himself sign it. And then he got a football and had all the players sign it. How cool is that?

I think he will but it might take ten years to get in. I think he was one of the best RB on the 1990's.

That Super Bowl game versus Green Bay was incredible. TD looked unstoppable.

Without TD there would have been no Super Bowl victories for the Broncos.

i was listening to a sports radio discussion and i agree with them when they say that TD isn't finished. there have been people to continue playing with the same injury. if you heard his interview at the preseason game when they honored him, he even made it sound like he might come back. he said, "this is my last game as a bronco". there have been rumors that Denver forced him into retirement. so we might see him some more in the future. even if he doesn't come back, i agree with all of you, he should be put in to the hall of fame.

Absolutely not. Davis had a couple of great seasons, but I would credit a lot of that to the awesome offensive line Denver used to have. However, he gets my respect for toughing it through that Super Bowl game with a migraine headache. A great running back, yes. But a hall of famer, no.

Give me a good reason why he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame and Gale Sayers is.

Sayers - 7 years, 4956 rushing yards, 30 TD's

Davis - 7 years, 7607 rushing yards, 60 TD's

Maybe they should kick Sayers out, because according to his numbers, if Terrell doesn't make it, then he shouldn't be there either.

Nah. He would best be compared to a one hit wonder band or something...

Perhaps. I just don't see Davis as hall of fame material.

while you could theoretically say this, he had a great stretch of four years. In '95, he got 1117 rushing yards and 7 td's. In '96 he ammased 1538 yards rushing and 13 td's. Then in '97 He got 1700 yards rushing and 15 td's. His best year was '98 in which he rushed for 2008 yards and ran in 21 touchdowns. This is far from a "one hit wonder" . a one hit wonder guy would be a guy who rushed for 1500 or more yards in one season, then never did anything like that again.

Granted, its a tough decision on whether TD should be a 'famer, but I'll give him the nod because he was that missing link for John Elway , and once he arrived, he helped them get over the hump.

Its just said to see such a great guy get his career cut short by an injury.

What exactly happened? And it seemed to me like that guy was always hurt... It seems like he only played a few years and then spent more time on the sidelines in street clothes than suited up and in the game.

Well, I think for his time Sayers had a good career. If I remember right, he probably played back when they played 14 games instead of 16 games. And his 5.0 yards per rush is top of the list.

And then of course there's the whole Brian's Song thing with the death of his friend Brian Piccolo in college.
