| ok i already know this won't be the coolest journal but who would read it if i put Thomas' Journal?
i've never actually been excited about doing a thread but this journal idea s awesome and i am real excited so someone please reply.
alright let me introduce myself, my name is thomas, i'm 18 and i live in midland texas. i have been a christian for 4 years last month and i've been playing guitar since last christmas. i love praise and worship and i was always frustrated that my voice doesn't sound that great and i couldn't sing loud without embarassing mysef so i begged my parents for a guitar so i could worship God with my small voice and my loud instrument
August 21
nothing interesting happened to me today, i worked on a roof all day in 100 degree whether and thats about it. it rained toay and thats always exciting here in midland. i am really looking forward to this weekend because there is a huge concert called Rock the Desert and there will be about twenty bands there and it is all weekend long. who's going to be there you ask? Chris Tomlin, Salvador, Mercy Me, The DavidCrowderBand, Toby Mac, joy williams, justifide, pillar, and guess who's headlining the concert? AUDIO ADRENALINE!!! oh yeah and the christian wrestling federation, that ought to be interesting. i'm looking forward to a lot of them but i am really looking forward to chris tomlin. he is sort of my musical role model and i love the way he doesn't put on a big show and just plays worship music. last year at rock the desert he was here and the newsboys were the big group, the newsboys put on a huge show (it was awesome!) and had the whole crowd screaming and then after the encore when everone was getting up to leave chris came out with just his guitar and played the heart of worship, it was beautiful. well thats enough for tonight, i've probably said to much already.
God bless you all!

well my journal is officially the 2nd least popular one on the boards, i don't know if i should go celebrate or go and cry. well today i spent most of the day looking for a job, is it really that bad to try to work in fast food? i've been told that i shouldn't apply at any of those places and i was just wondering if anyone could help me out. i am really excited about tommorow night because i have been looking forward to this concert all year. well thats about it, i'll right again tommorow and let y'all know how the concert went.
God bless |

| Good morning, Thomas!
I agree with bob. Don't work at a food place that you like to eat at. A couple years ago I worked at a pizza place and I couldn't look at pizza for a year after that.
That concert sounds really cool... like Festival Con Dios that I'm going to go to In September.

thanks for the advice y'all i wont be doing that now the coolest thing happened to me today, i went to pick up my brother from school and we were hungry so we went to whataburger to eat and while we were there we ran into Justified. it was so cool to actually be able to sit down and talk to people who are doing the thing that you want to do with your life. they were really nice and for some reason i thought they would be kinda unaproachable but they introduced themselves to us and they act just like my normal friends. i thought that was awesome and wanted to share that. i hope during the weekend i run into someone else, it'd be cool to be getting a slurpee and then turn around and have audio adrenaline waiting in line behind you. i'm about to head out to the concert, tonight it is david corwder, mercy me, lane oliver, and Chris Tomlin. i'll be sure to let y'all know how it went . |

Rock The Desert
i just got back from the best concert of my life, and there is still two days to go! they said their were about 30,000 people there and when you have that many people in one place go completely silent when mercy me starts singing i can only imagine....wow. i know that song has kinda gotten old but when you experience it live it is like hearing it for the first time all over again. i got there at the end of mercy me so thats all i got to see of them. next was david crowder, i never knew that he did all of those old hymns but the way he does them is amazing. the best part though was when he did undignified, the place went crazy. and then it was chris tomlin, you wouldn't believe how amazing i was. he started out with forever and got the entire crowd to all move to the front, thats a heck of a lot of people. he also did God of wonders, here i am to worship, enough, famous one, the noise we make, be glorified, my glorious and a whole bunch more. i also got to hear his new song from his new cd it goes like this
we lift up holy hands
to the one who is who was and who will be
and thats all i can remember and i probably messed it up but it was a beautiful song. oh and if y'all have never danced in the river...you have no idea what you are missing. he ended the whole thing with the heart of worship but then they lead speaker told him to do one more and he did rich mullin's creed and rich would be proud. oh yeah and he pretty much perfected "breathe" and "shout to the lord". he did almost all of his songs i have no idea what he has left for tommorow but i cant wait to find out. lets see, tommorow it will be salvador, chris tomlin, toby mac, and audio adrenaline, those are the only ones i'm excited to see and i get to see the christian wrestling federation, who would have thought of that? well its late and i gotta be up bright and early to get back to the concert. goodnight y'all. |

| Cool! I would so love to see that!
I knew you were from Texas when I saw that you eat at Whataburger. Because we went through Texas on the way to Mexico and all we ever saw was Whataburger and Loves Gas Station... It was kinda funny. Just thought I would share that.
I love the heart you have for worship. Great example to follow.

wow, it looks like i'm starting to make some friends :-). i changed my mind, now i have been to the best concert of my life. its almost one and i just got back! audio adrenaline was awesome!!!
i can't believe someone could have so much fun in one weekend. i went there in the morning but there wasn't anyone good so i left and went to go hit golf balls, can anyone tell me how to make the ball stop curving to the right? we got back at 6 when t-bone was on. i'll be honest, i was not looking forward to him at all but when i saw him i was amazed. he has such a heart for the lost, especially those trapped in the world of gangs and drugs, i think i found a new respect for rap music. well after that it was chris tomlin again and he was even better than last night! this time we got to hear a whole bunch of his new songs and i'll say right now his new cd is going to rock, so y'all go buy on septeber 10th ok? he did the wondeful cross today (he didn't do it last night) and don't think there is a more pwerful song out there it was absolutely amazing. then after that it was salvador. i don't know if anyone knows salvador that well but you have not been to a concert untill you have been to one of theres. they were better than audio adrenaline! no one can play the guitar like nick gonzales (lead singer) and the music was so awesome (i'm running out of words to describe this)if salvador is ever within about 1000 miles of you, youd better go see it you won't regret it i promise. well then it was toby mac, went and looked around during that one because i really don't like rap music but when i came back i was blown away. he has a great lead guitar player and i got to hear remixes of jesus freak and in the light. he also did a whole bunch of old songs like we are family and that one that goes "DAY oh, Day ay oH, daylight come and we wanna go home" (are those the words?) oh and he also threw in a little aerosmith too i definately have to reconsider my objections to rap music now. and then it was the moment everyone was waiting for...AUDIO ADRENALINE!!!! i was about 10 feet away from them and it was the funnest thing i have ever done. they started with amazed and did a whole bunch of songs from lift. one cool part was when t-bone came out and helped the do we're a band. ocean floor was absolutely beautiful, and beautiful was absolutely amazing. the best part was of course when they did big house. as soon as the intro guitar started playing the crows went crazy and they said there were about 60,000 people there. midland has only 90.000 people y'all!underdog was great and they finishet it with get down. they had pyrotechnics and everything it was soooo awesome. then at the very end when everyone started making their way off the field guess who came out? it was chris tomlin and this time he brought all of the bands with him and they did the most amazing version of did you feel the mountains tremble and yes we got to dance in the river one more time! God is so good, Lord Jesus i love you so much thank you for letting me be with you all weekend, it was the best weekend of my life. and there is still one more day to go!!! goodnight y'all i'll come back tommorow and finish the story |

| K, that is so awsome! I love it. So much! I so wish I could have been there. You know, I was at a similar thing. It went for 3 days. It is called Spiritfest Midwest. I don't know if you have heard of it or not. But it was cool.

well after all of that it is all over sunday morning was great, chris tomlin and lane oliver did the worship service, but nothing could top saturday night, here is some stuff i left out about saturday. i got to meet audio adrenaline, salvador, pillar, and chris tomlin and his band. and when i say meet i mean i shook their hand and or got their autograph . i was so impressed with toby-mac that i went out and got his cd and i am seriously considering going out and getting t-bone's cd. i despise rap music, even christian rap but now i realize that a few of them (very few) are just as talented as any other real singer. so what now? the next concert i will go to will be the cometogetherandworship concert with third day and michael w smith all the way in dallas in november but i am still holding to my statement that no one can out perform salvador!! audio adrenaline came pretty close though, did i mention earlier that when they started the first song giant flames shot out from the floor, i had never seen that up close so i thought it was cool. also at the very end tyler (their lead guitarist) got really excited and did a stage dive not into the crowd but onto the drum set and knocked them all over (and almost killed himself at the same time) , i guess he didn't know they still had one more song to do because he had to run back onto the stage and help put them back together so chris tomlin's guy could play on them. i can't wait till next year and hey if any of y'all want to come to midland to see it my house is always open
i started my first week of college on monday and i have to say that it was pretty easy. i was expecting something a lot bigger i guess put it was a lot more laid back than high school. the teachers didn't care if you were late or just walked out in the middle of class, you could eat and drink in every class, you could wear hats and there is no homework. but this might just be because it was the first day so i will probably be totally suprised in the days to come. i am taking english, government, history, speech, and trigonometry. is there some unwritten law that all math teachers have to be completely dull and monotoned?
oh and i am single and i think i may have found the girl that i have been looking for. this may sound wierd but i believe that there is one person for everyone and that when God made you he made you with her in mind so y'all are literally made for each other and no one else is good enough for you (i don't mean to sound arrogant or anything) well because of this i sort of stayed away from the dating scene during high school because i never really saw the point of going out with a different girl every weekend. i had the opportunities to go out but i never did because when i would look at a girl i would try to see if i could see myself married to her and no one ever fit. well this one girl, we met about three years ago because we had a class for a semster together but we never really talked. i sort of had a crush on her but i guess i was too shy to act on it so after the semester was over i never saw her again because the next school year i transfered to another school. well a few weeks ago i got to play in a worship band (for my first time!!) at a youth lock in and there were about 150 kids there. well she was there and it turns out that she has a twin sister and we all started talking and i invited them to go to church with me on sunday because i just started going to this awesome church and they said they were looking for one. well only her sister could go so i was kinda dissapointed, but then i thought "they are twins so its about the same thing" (i'm just kidding!) the great thing about it was that she took her brother with her and both her and her brother were saved that day during the service well tommorow night is going to be the first service that she can go to so i am pretty excited about that. what makes her so much different from the others girls is that i know she is real. i meet so many girls that say how much they love God and you see them at every single christian event and concert but then you spend a little more time with them and find out that Jesus is just their hobby and that there is no love there. well from what i have seen so far she is unlike any other girl i have met (and she's pretty!) and i just pray that she i as real as she seems. well i gotta go to bed, i didn't realize how much i wrote...sorry. goodnight everyone and God bless |
