Poor old lu..... haven't listened to them in a long time! last thing i bought by them was picture of the eighth wonder, but it's on cassette and i used to listen to it so much that it wore out and sounds crappy. i only have 2 of their songs on CD (recieve and drenched decent). i thought that poor old lu as a band was no more.... if they're back together, i think i might check out there new stuff.... and i'll dig that tape out of my box of old, over played cassettes.

okay, aside from aaron sprinkle being a great guitarist......

The guys from (i don't know any of their names):
Switchfoot
Five Iron Frenzy (the distorted stuff stuff)
Gramma Train
Phil Keaggy

My favs:

Brad Avery and Mark Lee (Third Day)
Tyler Burkum (Audio Adrenaline)
Barry Blair (formerly of Audio A)
Eric Weaver (12 stones)
Phil Keaggy (He's awesome, but not quite my style though)

If I think of more, i'll edit them in later...

Oh, and if you want to talk about Creed's faith, check out the Creed's faith thread in the Creed forum

Later,

Man, you missed out on a lot of good POL music if all you had was 8th wonder - that's a great album, but not their best, in my opinion. Mindsize and Straight Six were always my favorite CDs.

POL broke up in '96 but reunited last year. I saw them play at their first reunion show, which was way cool. Their first new CD in 6 years is being released Sept. 24th. I'm way excited. A few sound clips are available at ]www.pooroldlu.com.

If you liked Grammatrain, do yourself the favor and check out Gideon's Press. Paul Roraback, the drummer from Grammatrain, plays drums in Gideon's Press, and man do they rock. They're my personal favorite band .

The guys from Holy Soldier
The guys who played in Vengeance and Die Happy.

Creed is not a Christian band but their members are, just like P.O.D. I would not call P.O.D. a Christian band because their music, as Creed said, does try reach out to nonbelievers.

I would not call, P.O.D., from all the songs I have listened to, a Christian band because their songs are very different from more obvious Christian bands like Jars of Clay or David Crowder band.

Shane Barnard is my favorite Christian guitarist. I can't get enough of that double strumming. I've only been listening to Christian music for about a year or so, so I have no idea what most of you are talking about.

Gosh, this is sick, really.

Anytime Creed is MENTIONED, somebody HAS to get into an argument about it. Please give it a rest people! Besides, look at the title of this thread. It does not say anything about Creed and whether they are a christian band or not. So give it up already!

And I was under the impression that POD's biggest following was non-Christian...

Josh is right - there's a place for this discussion, and it's not here (in fact, it's been going on for quite a while in the thread I mentioned a few posts back). Check out that thread if you want to talk about whether or not Creed is a Christian band...

From what I read in interviews and on Creed's own website, the members are not Christians, and make no secret at all of that fact (and why would they?).

It is only the singer who even comes from a Christian background, but it is because of that background that some of the lyrics sound somewhat Christian.

Hey nga_puhi_guy! I haven't heard of Marc Seal but his website looks cool. I like the name of his tape - "Prepare to Shred". My only question - which pic does he look like NOW?!!!

I saw Phil Keaggy, Scott Dente, and Wes King when they were touring for their "Collaboration" album. That was an amazing night.

Dente virtually attacks his acoustic guitar -- I don't know how it stays in tune. And Keaggy is simply one of the finest guitarists I've ever seen.

I know I'm probably talking "old school" for most of you, but their stuff is definitely worth a listen.

I've never heard of this Phil Keaggy (sp?) guy that most of you on the boards do. Is he a solo artist? I'll check him out if he's any good
He is on the top of my list. The great Jimmy Hendrix once said in an interview that Phil Keaggy could play circles around him. He is bad.

My favorite would have to be Pete Stewart.
