The one problem I have with all these reccomendations...is that I have no CD budgest. Is there an mp3 or website someplace?

Dave Holmes

(australian guitarist)

He's got an album or too out and he did a couple with a group of others called "Prayerworks" and "Breath" which are really good.

I'm surprised no one's said the Edge...he's amazing. He's not known for his technical skills of course, but his rhythm guitar work is special, and his solos are intense and purposeful. So much of U2's sound is from his guitarwork. I think it's funny how a lot of the recent praise/worship music is sounding more and more like 80's U2 era stuff (guitarwise).
Other excellent christian guitarists...David Crowder, Keaggy...what everyone else said. I just love the Edge though.

the edge is as much U2's sound as is bono's vocals. Without either of them, that band would not exist.

Keaggy is fantastic, but probably not the best ever. I think that a serious contender for that title is Django Reinhardt (read http://www.hotclub.co.uk/html/history.html for more info) basically, one of the greatest jazz guitarists ever, and he only had two fingers on his left hand. Amazing stuff.

Somebody ever heard of Lothar Kosse?
Played once with Keaggy and also with the Bissonette brothers (drums, bass).
