Micah was two months old yesterday. Crazy how time flies.
I got scolded for posting in the pictures thread without a picture. Oops, oh well.
I posted this on my facebook, but thought I would share it here as well.
I feel like writing tonight.
I was talking to my mom the other day about how much God has blessed our lives, especially in these times when so many people are loosing their jobs, their homes, their health. These aren't just stories we are hearing on the news, this is happening to people we know. My parent's church has been hit hard recently with families going through really rough times and it was just a startling reminder to me that I need to be thankful for what I have been graciously and undeservedly given.
Some of the things I am especially thankful for:
I have an amazing husband. He has such a servants heart, and is so selfless. He loves the Lord and is such a strong leader and great example of God's love each and every day. And, he is an even more amazing father to our son. I knew that he would be, but seeing it first hand has made me fall in love with him even more than I thought possible.
We have a wonderful marriage. We have been together for 6 years, married for just over 4 of them and in that time have built a strong, firm foundation for the rest of our lives. I truly married my best friend. Even 6 years in, we still love to spend time together, joke around and have so much fun together. We laugh, goof, and joke around together every day, much more than we are "romantic" towards each other. Not only are we still head-over-heels in love, but we have fun together and truly enjoy each other's company.
We have a beautiful son. Wow, I could go on for hours about how wonderful and precious our son is. Never in my life have I been so blessed as I have been as a mom.
We both have great jobs. God spared Chris this past spring when despite being at a new school, he was spared being laid off. And even though I want so desperately to stay home with our son, I have a great job with flexibility to allow me to be mom and still bring in income.
We have our own home. Despite it's frustrations being a homeowner, it is ours and it is home.
We both have great families. Close and far away, we have wonderfully supportive families and enough could not be said for them. We love them (and miss them!) so much.
We have the best church family. We have been blessed so much by so many people in our church, and we do truly consider them family as well. Their blessing in our lives has been most evident during our pregnancy and since our son has been born. The fellowship of believers is so important in our christian faith, and we have been blessed with a great church and church family.
Most importantly, I have been blessed most with a wonderful savior. A savior who despite my shortcomings and sin, loves me and died for me. And a savior who delights in blessing me. What more can I say?
As we enter the fall season, I will be especially thankful this year for all I have been blessed with, and will make extra sure to thank God who sees fit to bless me.
