LOL

I don't think it could ever beat Tommy Boy.

But I need to know what's so great about it.

LOTR is VERY well acted, scripted, the effects rock.........it wasnt fake. over all, it was excellent. believe me, I am VERY picky about movies, and this one is good.

LoTR

My sis just bought because she obsesses over Tolkien but I thought it way to gory and graphic. She forwarded and skipped through every fight/war scene and I was still horrified. One viewing is enough, thank you! I do plan on reading the books....they are not as dark as *hollywood* portrays!
IMHO,

Because Peter Jackson achieved the impossible in bringing the Lord of the Rings world to life in a convincing manner.

You need this movie. The casting/acting are excelant, and the special effects are extreemly real-you never get the "I'm watching a video game" vibe. I agree that it is very graphic, and some of the creatures look like they came straight from hell, but to me it was good to see evil portrayed as such...So often sin is not portrayed as it really is, expecially in hollywood. Everything in this film is done in Epic proportions, with an amazing eye for detail...right down to the Coat of Arms on the belts. Some people have said the spiritual side of the books did not transfer to the screen. I totaly disagree. While it is not an alagory(sp!), there are deep spiritual truths weaved all through this film. I saw it 3 times in the theater, and cought something more each time. I'm buying it, and you should too!
