For Clarinet, I switched from Vandoren to Zonda reeds about six years ago and have never looked back! They're awesome!

I actually like the taste of reeds... especially new ones...
Due to the fact that, even though I live in a fairly populated metropolitan area, there are probably only 20 people other than myself who play saxophone at a level higher than highschool, its pretty tough to find a store that supplies good reeds--it seems like all i can find is Rico. And when I do find a store that has Javas, they don't have them above a 3...

Yeah, new reeds do taste good. Anyway, not that I'm a reed expert or anything, but my favorite reed so far for my alto sax is those Fredrick L. Hemke reeds from Rico. Great tone, and I got them for cheap.

seriously, ive been charged 18 bucks for one oboe reed. and i know a guy who breaks them almost constantly.
