| Food for Zimbabwe Our Church just took a 10 ton truck of food up to Zimbabwe.
The guys who drove up there are going to be talking about it this coming Sunday. I'll post the transcript of it after that.
Just to note: people in Zimbabwe are being given 1 loaf of bread per day per family...in a family where you may have 10 or more kids that goes nowhere.
Also you only get food rations from the government if you have a ZANO-PF membership card.

| I'll be traveling in South Africa this August from the 15th-29th on a mission trip through a group in SA called Multi-Ministries. I'll be in and all around the areas of Pretoria and Johannesburg throughout those two weeks. I'll post a more in-depth description of this and some questions in another thread so I don't clutter this one up...

| I just got back from a trip to northern Africa ... and prayer for the workers there would rock! It's such a dark place ... it feels like Satan's got a foothold on it, but you can see that God's at work!!!

| Hey I'm new to this site and the first thing that I checked out was the posts about Africa My friend and I joke saying that Africa is all we talk about
I am going with a team (and my friend that I mentioned before) from my church to Kenya where we will hold VBS and such for the kids down there. I can't wait, we leave in Dec and it can't get here soon enough. This will be my fist mission trip, my first time being outside of the US EVER! We have our first meeting this Sunday and I’m so excited! Please just pray that our team would bond together and mesh so we can be the most effective team that we can be. Pray for God's blessing and that all the details will be worked out (exams etc.) Thanks and I look forward to talking with you guys soon.

| New ---- One Zambia One nation ! Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I was born in Cape Town, but we moved to Zambia in 1966 (yes dates me) when my father was deported for oposing apartheid. Lived "in exile" there, but came to love Zambia as home. Now in the only place worth living in Canada (that should provoke attack), in beautiful Victoria BC.
Have worked in Zambia as medical missionary (MD), as programme officer for World Vision Canada for Southern African programmes, and also have been a consultant to World Vision International in Malawi. Currently setting up a small NGO in BC Canada to help the work my parents started in Lusaka, Zambia (see http://makeni.org.uk/ ), which may involve exchanges in time, between Canada and Zambia. Stay tuned if this interests you.
I'll watch this area for other home-sick Africans!
If you are from Zambia, or Northern Rhodesia, check out http://www.niner.net/nr/ (Great North road web site)

| hello everyone!!!
I live in South Africa and think its a great place!!
Our church network, Foundation Ministries, is also involved in outreach. My dad and a few men from our church sort of started it when God laid it on their hearts. The place we go to is Lusaka, Zambia and other north african places. I've only been to Lusaka this year, for the very first time, but If it's God 's will I hope to go next year as well.My dad and the rest goes further north when they go, but he refuses to take me because he says it's too dangerous. They want to go to the copperbelt area and other war-ridden regions. Its so beautiful up there!!I definitely love this country of mine.
When we were up there in April, the Lord did amazing stuff. For one, he protected me from a hideous black scorpion and he unlocked another "part" of my "tongue".I dont know what's the correct english term for the language you speak when you're speaking in tongues. But I got a breakthrough!!
Ok, but now I want to share something funny with you guys. We went to visit my grandma in June, and we were walking around in the mall when I spotted a group of young people with name tags.Upon further inspection I saw that the tags said "JESUS CHRIST" (or something such) and this really got my heart beating. So I ventured over to them and asked them who they were. This one guy then told me they were missionaries from the US.I said oh.He then asked me if I knew what a missionary was.....I had a hard time keeping a straight face.I'm sure he didnt mean bad, but I got the impression that The Americans saw South Africa as this dark, uncivilised country.Sorry to burst the bubble, but we are just like the US in a lot of ways!!I'm still wishing that I could have stayed a bit longer and struck up a decent conversation with those missionaries. |

this summer i worked in rehoboth, namibia, but i did get to spend 3 days back in some of the same places i worked at last year in pretoria....which was very nice.
pretoria is like, my home away from home :-)
and i'm going to be working in south africa and namibia full time in the future....
