Thumbs up Euphonium

Does anyone else here play this glorious instrument?
Do you know what it is?

It doesnt seem to get the respect it deserves. If I tell someone I play the Euphonium I am promptly hit with a questioning look and a "You play what?" So I was just wondering if anyone plays or even knows what one is.

Peace Out

I know what a Euphonium is, I don't play it. Its a cousin of the Baritone... that has the following differences
1) A Euphonium has mostly conical tubing, the Baritone is mostly cylindrical.
2) A Euphonium has a larger bore than a Baritone. This results (if played correctly) in a warmer, richer sound than the Baritone.
3) The Euphonium often uses a deeper-cup mouthpiece, resulting in a darker sound than the shallow mouthpieces oft employed by Baritones.

That and most Baritones are written for Treble Clef, and most Euphoniums are Bass Clef (Usually the part is called Baritone TC or Baritone BC though).

Any insturment not played well is bad. Some worse than others. However if an insturment is played well it sings.

Huh? What? The bass trombone has the exact same range as a tuba...the tenor trombone (or most call it just a trombone, most common trombone used..) has the same range as a euphonium..and..if you read bass clef with euphonium, yes it is like playing a tuba (same fingerings) but if you read treble the fingerings are the same as a trumpet's
