This is an Orb Spider.

I'm can't remember which exact type of orb spider, but it's something like St' Judes Orb Spider. Named for the zigzag in it's web.

The little brown thing in the bottom right hand side is a male orb spider (fully grown)

Now for you to get some perspective on the size of this spider.

Those are warren's legs in the pic. The spider is slightly bigger than his knees. (Warren ain't a little boy, he's a front row center forward. That's a rugby position)

Maybe the fact that they're both Springbok has something to do with it.

The RCD were formed at part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the Anglo-Boer War in 1899. The Springbok represents the country where they were formed.

Well if the female is in an unreceptive mood the male becomes dinner. An some cases after he's performed his duties he becomes supper anyhow.
