David Crowder Band Engages Youth Camp

Nashville, TN, July 31, 2002 – David Crowder Band, Sparrow/sixstepsrecords’ biggest selling debut artist ever, was the featured artist at the recent Presbyterians For Renewal (PFR) Youth Ministry event, Fun In The Son, held in South Padre Island, Texas.

Several hundred high school students attended the event and were treated to a high-energy concert by the David Crowder Band as they performed music from their critically acclaimed and current recording, Can You Hear Us?.

“The David Crowder Band has an amazing ability to win audiences and to lead them into deeper worship,” notes Dr. Chuck Neder, PFR Youth Ministry founder and national director. “The band is without peer technically, however, they also possess the God given gift of being able to perform music that touches the heart and soul. In 30 years of doing youth ministry David Crowder ranks among the best I’ve ever ministered with."

PFR Youth Ministry offers over 60 events internationally for Presbyterian youth of all ages. The ministry began over 20 years ago and currently has 10 full-time staff, and over 300 volunteers. With all of their programs planned and implemented by youth workers, Fun in the Son is designed to encourage youth and youth workers in their relationship with Jesus Christ, while strengthening local church ministries. More information on PFR Youth Ministry can be found at www.pfryouth.org.

With over 6,200 copies of Can You Hear Us? sold in its first week at retail, the David Crowder Band debut continues to gain support from the media. In addition to upcoming features in both CCM magazine (Sept.) and New Man magazine (Sept./Oct.), the band continues to garner rave reviews:

Youthworker magazine gives the album an “A” and says, “Over the last few years, David Crowder & Co. has cut its teeth on leading thousands in heartfelt, artful worship. On this major-label studio debut, the fellas do a fine job transferring the David Crowder Band live experience to tape.”

“David Crowder may not be the most recognizable name in the modern praise and worship scene, but he is one of the most talented…David Crowder is an example of what is right with the most popular segment in Christian music today,” says The Phantom Tollbooth.

“Combine the musical influences of the Dave Matthews Band with the lyrical integrity of Rich Mullins, along with occasional samples and a sometimes danceable beat, and you just might come up with the David Crowder Band…this recording proves this band’s modern worship music is relevant for a worldwide demographic…this is rock ‘n’ roll worship at its best!” says The Noize magazine.

Additional information on the band, including tour dates and song samples, can be found at davidcrowderband.com, sixstepsrecords.com and sparrowrecords.com.

Founded in 2000 by Louie Giglio, sixstepsrecords is a young worship label and is a division of Choice Resources, the parent ministry for Passion Conferences. Other artists on the roster include Charlie Hall (Porch & Altar) and Chris Tomlin (sophomore recording, Not To Us, releases Sept. 10). The label partners with Sparrow Records for marketing, sales, and distribution operations.

Brentwood, Tennessee-based EMI CMG was founded in 1994. It is the world’s largest Christian music company, operating the Sparrow, ForeFront, Worship Together and EMI Gospel labels in addition to EMI CMG Publishing and Chordant Distribution Group. EMI CMG is a unit of EMI Music, the third largest recorded music company in the world.

just so you know, there were over 1100 kids at Fun In the Son. since it is such an important detail and it wasn't so much a concert as just them leading worship in the evenings.

also, Chuck Neder is the BOMB!!!

Salesman:I see, do you have a receipt, quote unquote sir?
Comic Book Guy:no , do not have a receipt. I won it as a door prize at the Star Trek convention, although i find their choice of prize highly illocial, as the average trekker has no use for a medium size belt.
Salesman:Whoa whoa a fat sarcastic Star trek fan! You must be a devil wtih the ladies.
Comic book guy:hey i uh de---oh
SalesmanGee, i hate to let you down Casanova, but no receipt no return
Bart:I'll give you four bucks for it
Comic book guy: Huuuh. Very well. I must hurry back to my Comic BOok Store wherei dispense the insults rather than absorb them.
