West Side Story!!!!
I just saw this musical and it was pretty good.......it wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. I thought Maria was going to shoot herself at the end! I was glad she didn't! It wasn't as sad as Romeo and Juliet.

it was like Romeo and Juliet set in 1950's New York. Everything was basically the same except they sang and danced alot, and Maria didn't die

Ah.... I see. So the Romeo dude fell for Maria's trick and killed himself, and then Maria DIDN'T kill herself???

Interesting twist.....

noooooo it was a little different in the play. Her aunt or something told "romeo" that Maria was shot by this guy who liked her, and so he went lookin for him saying 'shoot me too! shoot me too!" (intelligent, eh?) so when "romeo" finds the boyfriend he sees Maria at the same time, and the boyfriend shoots him. It was complicated.

no the summary is:

there are 2 gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. The Sharks are Puerto Ricans and the Jets are Americans. Tony, a Jet, falls in love with Maria, a Shark's Sister. Maria convinces Tony to end the gang wars, and Bernardo, Maria's brother, kills Riff, the leader of the Jets, and Tony Kills Bernardo. Chino, a Shark (close friend of Bernardo, also engaged to Maria) kills Tony. Maria threatens to kill some people then herself. She doesn't kill anyone.

Yes yes... I grew up with this musical. One of the best (though I'm not too fond of love stories).

It has great dancing and music.

Officer Krupky is HILARIOUS!!
