neither

`ho brah... first of all, it's "haole" not "howlie"... the pronunciation just got jacked after a while... second... it depends on ur definition, bcoz ppl like to define "haole" as white... but it really means foreigner or something like that...

anyway, i'm not white... i'm a pure and proud flip [filipino]... and i've been in hawaii since i was 5 mos... so some people say i'm not local, while others say i'm practically a kama'aina already... so i have no idea whether i'm haole [def. 2] or local...

Thanks for the info. I know a Hawiian and we were discussing it. I would like nothing more than to move to Hawii for the rest of my days, but alas, I'm stuck in Texas. Just tryin' to make converstation with nice ppl. (cause that's what Hawiians are.)

As I've heard, haole is an offensive, derogotory term... But I'm definitely a local. A Lake Tahoe local.

It is a term of contempt. Hawaiians tend to not like haoles.

I'd soooo like to live in Hawaii.

I'm sure the locals...I mean...the people living in Hawaii would think that Hawaii is not what some tourist agency's make it up to be. Cause I know the same feeling, as Pokemon and family jacked up Japan to be some kind of wonder country.
