| ANNEALING
A heating and cooling operation implying usually a relatively slow cooling.
Annealing is a comprehensive term. The process of such a heat treatment may be: to remove stresses; to induce softness; to alter ductility. In annealing, the temperature of the operation and the rate of cooling depend upon the material being heat treated and the purpose of the treatment.
heat th' metal up, then air cool it. Then it will be soft and workable. then you can shine it back up with wirewool, or leave bits for that 'old and distressed' look.
Alternatively, FIRE the cat at the metal...I once left an imprint of my right fist in 3/8 thick metal plate...but thats another story!!! |
