| Its a dumb ruleing. Under this idea that means EVERY document that started this country has to be banned. The Declaration of Independance, Articles of Confederation, Constitution of the United States. All of the contain references to God. It don't see the big fuss anyway, because all these references to God have become so secularized over the years.

| I am somewhat divided on the issue, but my current position on the matter is that I agree with the decision. |

The reference to God was added in the 50's during the Cold War and the Communist witch hunts to further the idea that we were the "good guys" and the communists the "bad guys", because we, of course, were "under God". |

| given the presupposition of our country, there is nothing wrong with it. given the proper governing of a nation (theonomy), there is certainly something wrong with it and its motives.

| i don't like the ruling...but i can't argue w/ it, because they do have a point
first off, the "one nation under God" part wasn't added until sometime in the 1940's.
another issue w/ that, the real reason it was changed, was because of the line in the US constition that says that the government may not endorse any religion. in the "one nation under God" clause, the word God is singular, which cuts out all of the polytheistic religions. that is the main reason why it was changed.

| the sad fact is that there is no "one nation under god" anymore
there are now so many new age religions that it just isnt true anymore. in a way we are all "under god" but that is not what it means.

| What's funny is that the guy who brought this up used the motivation that he did not want his daughter to be ridiculed if she expressed atheistic beliefs...well, the daughter is a Christian (and so is the estranged mother) and when told that she wouldn't be able to say "One nation under God" anymore, she told her mom "I can still whisper it." |

It isn’t a requirement to say the pledge, so I would think that it wouldn't be a requirement to say it word for world when saying it. |

| there are some places where it is...and depending on where that person's daughter lives, she might be affected by it....
