| Minority Report ( some vague spoilers) Well, this is one summer movie that lives up to the hype...everything is pretty good--the acting, plot, casting, etc...but what really sticks out is just the amazing visuals and direction by Spielsburg. It seems to be almost a different style than what he's done in the past, including his other recent futuristic movie, A.I. The plot has a lot of just good moments that shouldn't be mentioned and spoiled...some of the twists were foreseeable, but it definitely keeps you guessing. The only disappointment is that it is not that "deep" of a movie, going more for the murder mystery genre than trying to score many deep observations about the implications of a Pre-crime department....on the other hand, it does the murder mystery really well, so there's not much to dislike.
For those of you who are Theology freaks...this movie is a must see for Calvinists and Arminians
Probably the best movie I've seen in theaters this year...which includes LOTR, AOTC, Insomnia, and Changing Lanes.

| Yeah, it was a great movie. Good acting, excellent story, amazing visuals, and crazy plot twists. IT really did simplify the freewill vs predestination argument.

| You know the Lexus in the movie looks a lot like the Audi A6 and A8.
One of the best parts in the movie was in the greenhouse with the old lady. That was a pretty chilling scene with terrific terrific acting from Lois Smith (the old lady), especially the part with the plant pulling itself out of her fist. And then she tops it off by grabbing Tom Cruise and giving him a big smooch on the lips.
Samantha Morton was great as Agatha, too. RUNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
And Colin Farrell was really excellent as Ed Witwer (you know...the guy trying to take Cruise's job). He made the character believable even as it kept changing throughout the film.

| I saw Minority Report the day it came out. I expected to see a rehash of a watered-down mystery movie. The trailer, I thought, encapsulated it all.
I was surprised to find a very entertaining movie with more than its share of twists, like Goodness said, good acting, amazing filming. Very innovative in all regards, really. Ending was a bit dissappointing, but I came away feeling very good about the movie as a whole.

| I saw Minority Report last night, and while I enjoyed it from a visual standpoint, I was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't more focus on the ethical issues of pre-crime itself. Lots of lost potential by not doing that. I'm also not proclaiming it to be a Spielberg masterpiece like Rogert Ebert is, but that's just me.
Some things I liked about the movie:
-The overhead shot of the apartment building during the spider scene.
-The spiders themselves. Fantastic computer effects.
-The blend of future and current looks in DC.
-Tom Cruise. As usual he delivers.
-How the whole pre-crime system was beat with human error. Very clever.
-The water theme throughout the movie.
There are many other small details I could include. This is a case where I like a movie for the small things rather than the larger overall details. I definatly recommend it; it's better than most of the other junk we've been fed so far this year. That's ok though, I'm confident that quality will prevail in this fall movie season. |
