Originally posted by Unionite I just read an article about "OZZFEST" and it included POD in the line up of the concert. now, i believe with all my heart that christians are supposed to live Godly lives and glorify God with all that we do. playing at ozzfest is not necesarily a good way to be a good example. that is one of the biggest problems i have with pod claiming to be a christian band. what is the point in saying that you are keeping your message "positive" so a lost world can hear it, when the message is too vague for anybody to know and understand who Jesus is!? |
But I see it this way: when I listen to P.O.D. I clearly here the Christianity of the band, I hear no vagueness whatsoever. And what better place to be a light in the dark than Ozzfest?
Chuck Swindoll once said that in total darkness, any bit of light will be seen, be it a flashlight shone in your eyes that blinds you, or a small, dim candle that can't even begin to compare to the flashlights' intensity.
The point? We as Christians don't need to blatantly be in peoples' faces with our faith. Believe it or not, the unsaved will notice the difference in the way we live our lives, be it the small, everday things, and be just as touched by this, if not more so, than if we drag them to a Billy Graham-style revival meeting.
I refuse to degrade POD's faith by saying that such trivial things as playing in venues that normal Christians won't enter is evidence of their "not being Christian." Christ Himself went to the people where they were in the world, as evidenced by the Samaritan woman at the well, and Zacchius, both under the tree and at his house.
Enough ranting for now.
