| David Fincher signs on to direct Mission Impossible 3 Yeah I know what you're thinking: "Not another bad MI movie..." And I would share your sentiments exactly if not for one factor: David Fincher. This is a few weeks-old news and maybe some of you have heard it already, but David Fincher, the director of marvelous films such as "Fight Club" and "Seven", is now heading up MI 3. If anyone can bring credibility to this horrid franchise, it's Fincher. That is - if the studio lets him. Fincher said that he's been talking with Tom Cruise and they came up with some great idea that could make the movie really interesting. If given complete control, he plans to make it dark and violent (surprise). Frankly, the idea of Fincher and Cruise teaming up intrigues me and I'm already looking forward to seeing it. *edit*
This news is actually a couple of months old, but I hadn't heard it until recently. Here's a link

| oooooohhh....that's an interesting combination...David Fincher taking up a sequel to 1) an intelligent spy flick and 2) a brainless John Woo action film both starring Tom Cruise. It would be interesting to see if he takes the movie completely opposite derctions from either of the two that came out already. No matter what...it has to have these things : the line "your mission, should you choose to accept it", a high-tech, high risk espionage mission. That's impossible.
Wow...David Fincher directing MI3...

| Its quality will all depend on how much the suits let Fincher do. If Cruise backs Fincher like Pitt backed him during the making of Fight Club, then I feel that we have a great movie to look forward to. |

| Mission: Impossible is probably one of my favorite movies. Really smart and good story. M:I2 I liked a lot less. Though it did have some cool elements, I think it easily falls into the stereotypical John Woo action movie catagory. Hopefully the new sequal will bring back the smart sophistication of the first one.

| I am greatly looking forward to this movie. I agree that Fincher will do a fantastic job of it if he is granted artistic freedom. Also, let's hope the movie is backed by a better sound track (say, something from Tool rather than Limp Biskit).

| I don't think you have to worry about that. Fincher seems to have good musical taste. NIN was in Seven and Chemical brothers, who I don't personally enjoy that much but are respectable, did the soundtrack for Fight Club.
Anyone know when filming starts? I know that Tom Cruise has another project he's either doing right now or is going to do first. I'm thinking this thing will get a summer 2003 release? I hope I'm right. |

| I liked both M:I movies for different reasons.
The first one had a better plot, although it was confusing at times.
The second one had better action, and I liked that Ving Rhames had more of a part. Plus Thandie - wow!
