Yngwie was probably the fastest shredder who actually got airplay, but try guys like Rusty Cooley if you want to hear faster (he was champion of some kind of speed-picking event)

the fastest i've heard is racer X, but who actually wants to listen that??

Who ever said that no one sounds the same as satch or vai is very much correct. Satriani doesn't have any thing in his music that's any more "non-christian" than guys like hendrix... mostly songs about women and stuff when he does sing. Vai though is extremely new age/eastern based philosphy/the truth is what you make it. Some of it enough that i don't like listening to it. but he is an amazing guitarist.

Hey

Wow, I must be getting old, try Lanny Cordolla, Jeff Scheetz, Rex carroll, David Zaffiro, All are excellent guitarist, you wont be disappointed, David Zaffiro is kinda satch sound, Lanny maybe more of a Vai sound and Scheetz is a mix, And then Rex Carroll played for a band called Whitecross, and King James he never made any solo guitar albums but he is a fantastic player, and all are CHRISTIANS. David Zaffiro also played in the band Bloodgood and a few others, but he has a couple of solo albums, And of course I must not forget Phil Keaggy. God bless, Ken.

P.S. Let me know if u have trouble find them I may be able to help.

Re: Hey

LOL @ that picture of Michael Sweet!!!

That was Stryper at their peak... 2 cans of Aqua-Net extra hold hairspray per concert...per band member!

I think a lot of us are old enough to remember Bloodgood, Lanny Cordola, et al. Rex Carroll is still going at it.

Let's keep supporting those smaller acts out there too... Gideon's Press, Narnia, Trytan, etc...

You can't say this music is of the devil verses that music. All music was created by God for God. People (albeit, people influenced them selves) have come along and perverted it, mostly about what they sing about. If you take an instrumental you can put what you want into it or you can listen to what is actually there.

I was going to say Paul Gilbert is great (he was racer x's guitarist). For what it's worth he did play on Darrell Mansfield's song "Jesus Will Reign." Also I heard that Joe Satriani is a Christian also. A lot of his music does have to do with sci-fi theme's, but so does Brave Saint Saturn. Surfing with the alien is about the Silver Surfer from the Fantastic Four.

Has anyone here heard of Andy Timmons? He's pretty new to the solo music scene but his style emulates satriani quite a bit. He's definitely worth a check out.

Holy resurrected thread, Batman!
Expect the p-t-b to lock it soon.
Until then, check out a guy named Tony Palacios. He's a well-rounded shredder.
