True Vibe Featured Performer At Fleet Week Concert In New York

(NASHVILLE, TN) May 30, 2002-Essential Records' pop quartet True Vibe traveled to New York City this past weekend for a night of music and ministry, honoring the firefighters, police officers, rescue workers, military and families affected by the September 11th tragedy. The concert took place Sunday evening of Fleet Week, a time designated by New York City to show its appreciation for the sailors and Marines who serve our country.

True Vibe joined former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, who shared his testimony, and fellow contemporary Christian artists 4HIM and Out of Eden at the Staten Island Yankees' Stadium (a single A affiliate of the New York Yankees) at 7:00 p.m. The group performed five songs including "Jump, Jump, Jump," "Now And Forever" and "See The Light," a cut from their upcoming August 20th release of the same name.

"We talked with countless sailors and other members of the armed forces," commented Jason Barton of True Vibe. "It was so nice to meet these heroes face to face and to thank them in person for all of their hard work. It felt good to be able to give something back in gratitude for all they have sacrificed for our country."

The concert was broadcast over the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network as well as over the Dish Network to 2100 churches nationwide. It also reached 450 prisons via the T.D. Jakes Satellite Network.

Since 1984 the city of New York has hosted Fleet Week in appreciation of U.S. armed forces and to provide the military an outlet to thank the public for its support. This year's Fleet Week occurred May 22-29, offering the first opportunity for public visits to the U.S. Navy ships since the September 11th attack. The week's events included numerous military demonstrations, exhibits, and displays.

Between radio, retail, touring, press, movie soundtracks and more, True Vibe's debut year has been truly phenomenal. True Vibe has sold more than 180,000 units to date, garnered two No. 1 radio singles, and performed before an estimated audience of more than two million. In keeping with momentum, the group is gearing up for its sophomore release from Essential Records, See The Light, in stores August 20th. For more information on True

Nashville-based Essential Records was founded in 1992 to provide relevant music from a God-centered perspective. In addition to True Vibe, the label's artist roster includes Jars of Clay, Third Day, Caedmon's Call, FFH, Paul Colman Trio and Sarah Sadler. Essential Records, and its affiliated label, Watershed Records, is distributed through Provident Music Distribution and through partnerships with parent company Zomba Music.
