| I don't have a yo-yo, but I pick up my brother's ocasionally to give it a couple turns. It's fun I can walk the dog but that's about it.
You guys know where the word "yo-yo" comes from? :kgrin:

| Yep, from here:
The first recorded reference to any type of yo-yo in the United States was in 1866 when two men from Ohio received a patent for an invention called "an improved bandalore," in that it was rim weighted. One year later, a German immigrant named Charles Kirchof patented and manufactured the return wheel. From then until 1911, although various patents were awarded in the United States related to the yo-yo, nothing notable occurred. In 1916, the Scientific American Supplement published an article titled "Filipino Toys" which showed it and named it a yo-yo. This was explained by some as the Filipino word for "come-come" or "to return." Significant events were soon to happen in the United States.
Full details and much more information can be found at the American YoYo Association.

| Now I haven't looked it up, but I read that it comes from a natives' language and it meant "come-come". Originally the yo-yo was larger (some had spikes) and was used by the natives as a hunting tool. They would climb in a tree and wait for an animal to pass beneath and then their expert yo-yo skills would come into play
[edit] looks like someone posted before me [/edit]

| i used to be really into yo-yoing. i got a special yo-yo that was supposed to be able to do all these cool tricks. ironically, that one doesn't do anything i try to make it do, but the ones at the 99 cent store do everything imaginable. i just like to amaze my baby cousins all the time. they think i'm magical or something. :klol:
