Well see they have done many things of SCRAPPING great players from what they've done, not only in games but in there own personal life. PETE ROSE gets kicked outta the league for betting, can't go to a game nor enter the hall of fame. He is the greatest Baseball Player that ever lived. SO you say SCRAP away what he's down, I say look at Pete Rose.

In hockey the way the puck rules is the way you get the win!
"LUCK" means all. Or is it Physical Shape or Mental Stability. what...

What happened to Pete Rose is a totally separate issue to what we are talking about here. Why the heck did you even bring him up? Pete is still considered by almost everyone to be a great player, even though he was banned from the league as an example...... In a similar matter, Roy should still be considered one of the best goalies ever, even though he's had a few bad games....

If you look at some of my former posts, you will see my explanation of where I think Roy and Hasek stand in the list of all-time goaltenders.

Irbe is a good goalie, but hasn't proven himself to be an all-time goaltender.

If Detroit wins, Hasek will most certainly move up in the top 5, but to say that Hasek and Irbe have had a better year than Roy this year is just ludicrous.

If they were better than Roy this year, why are they not nominated for either the Vezina award or the MVP (the name is eluding me at the moment - the Hart?). Take a look at the whole season. When the Avalanche were struggling offensively at the beginning of the year, Roy singlehandedly kept them in games and allowed them to climb up in the standings. At one point they were 8 points behind Calgary and Edmonton. Because of Roy they gained ground and were able to pass them.

Roy had the best GAA he's ever had in the regular season - a 1.92 GAA - which was the best GAA by a goalie this season. He also had the second best save percentage, only trailng Theodore by .01

So instead of just saying that Irbe and Hasek were better than Roy this year, please back that up with facts. Yeah, Irbe and Hasek are in the Stanley Cup finals - kudos to them. But that doesn't mean they were better than Roy this year.

I like Hasek, and I like Irbe - so I'm not saying this because I don't like the Red Wings or the Hurricanes. If I was partial, I wouldn't have included Terry Sawchuck who played for the Red Wings on my list.

well, people judge

good seasons by making the high playoff run, you can average the most points but if your not in the Championship which is everyones main goal than you didn't have the 'BEST' Season

Okay, dude, whatever. I obviously am not going to convince you, even though almost all hockey analysts on radio, tv and in newspaper would disagree with you.

I'm sick of arguing this - obviously stats don't matter in "DJ Buke" land.

Consider me out of here. I think I'll go find a post somewhere else - not that everyone has to agree with me, but at least we need some common ground, i.e. impartiality and knowledge of hockey stats and history.

bye bye :kspin:

Does anyone remmeber Steve Larmer?? He used to play for New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks. I know his daughter....hehe. She goes to my school. My dad recognized Steve at my grade eight graduation. I wouldn't have recognized him anyway but oh well.... I think he's retired now...

Did Belfor leave the Stars? if this is true this stinks!! I just hope the Stars won't lose anyone else that's good. I still am mad about them not making the playoffs this past year. That stunk too.

Yeah, Belfour is in Toronto - I guess the Stars are counting on Turco to get the job done.

I can't stand Belfour, and now Toronto, my second favorite team has him, and CUJO GOES TO DETROIT? That totally sux, since I hate the Red Wings.

As far as goalies go, Nabokov is definitely one of the top four. This is coming from a Sharks fan of course, but the stats don't lie, and this last season was either his first or second, I can't remember. Don't be surprised when this guy is at the top of his class, the other greats are getting old. Hassek is another amazing goalie, but it is true that his defenseman are better than Nabokov's. Shark's defense hasn't been too hot lately, though no one can complain about their offense. They have the best third line in the league. I can't stand Roy or Belfour, but especially Belfour. He is good for a laugh now and then as he throws him self across the ice when an opponent skates nearby so that they can have a penalty. And I am an Irbe fan from way back, don't forget that he was playing for the Sharks back when they had Pat Faloon and Sandis Ozelinch. He's not quite as good as he used to be, but he is VERY impressive for a guy whose dog bit off his fingers.
