Yep.... it's the Dragon for 2002. Everything you see there is inlaid.... no painting or decals on that baby!

yeah that dragon is awesome! a little too scary for me.

Does anyone know if they use a CNC machine to make it? That would cost several small fortunes to do by hand, unless it is your hand doing it~~~.

cool guitar though

According to Ed Roman (who knows EVERYTHING about guitars), everything made by PRS is made on a CNC machine... kinda sad for the price you have to pay.

i dont believe that ed roman knows all he talks about. i dont think that he has ever laid eyes on a PRS shop. but in response to the other, it is hand made. all the parts are ivory inlays meaning that the wood was cut with depressions in the body so the pieces could be put in it, then painted, and then finished and it all looks even and smooth. only a 100 of them were made for 2k2. very rare, about $50G i think

PRS started out making handmade guitars, those pre 95-96 I think are the best. Mainly everything now made by PRS is CNCd.
Please!!! don't pay handmade prices for machine made guitars.
Here's a pic from the PRS factory. Even the sanding is done by machine.

Basic is beautiful

Nothing fancy, just sweet. It's a custom guitar(don't have the maker's name with me) I like the acoustic shaped solid body. But what's most SWEET about it is it has a Lightwave Optical Pickup . I am dying to get my hands on one of those lightwaves. If you don't know what it is it's an optical pickup that produces a cleaner clearer sound with no hum(You can hold it in front of an amp and it won't feedback)! The sound is supposed to be so much better that you have to learn how to play becuase it is so much more sensitive.

It's only available on basses and some very custom guitars. But I e-mailed them and they said that it should be appearing in guitar stores in the summer and there may be a retrofit unit available by fall(I hope, I hope, I hope). If you want to check out their website click HERE .

My probably unattainable dream guitar:

Ritchie Sambora Signature Model. But honestly I just want it cause it's the only all koa grand auditorium they have.

My probably attainable dream guitars:

LP Standard, wine red.

Taylor 610ce, either this or a black one.

American Deluxe Strat, Aged Cherry Burst w/ Rosewood fingerboard.

So yyeeeaaahhh... those will set me back, but I'll be very content.

......Oh who am I kidding, I want a mandolin too, but thats not what this topic is about.

Actually....that's not really true. A lot of people don't seem to know this, but you can switch tops on Taylors. At least a year ago it was a free switch. You just say you want a koa top instead of the Engelmann. Even if they charged you a small amount for the change it would still be TONS cheaper then getting the Richie Sambora Signature Model. So go ahead and put it with your "My probably attainable dream guitars".

this isn't my dream guitar, but if by some chance, i could find it in a garage sale for a dollar...

It's a Washburn Paul Stanley 2000 Millenium Edition signature...with rhinestones...

maybe you just dont want to believe him because of what he knows about the guitar you like...
first of all they are not ivory inlays - you can tell by looking at the guitar - Ive never seen a elephant with green tusks. they are some kind up shell fish (I imagine), and ivory is illegal as an import to america.
second just because some thing has been inlayed in wood does not mean it was done by hand. it would not be incredibly difficult to have a CNC machine cut, not only the recess for the inlay but also what is being inlayed.
I feel bad for who ever paid 50G for that guitar - sure it looks awesome, but total production cost was probably below $300.00
