Interest~

i think i just totally suck at piano.. just totally.

my teacher is really into classical music, so.. i'm playing j.s. bach.. and 2 sonatine books.

i'm having a very hard time trying to get myself into practicing.. like. bach.. man.. that thing makes noooooo sense to me.. unless i play both hands.. and i usually stop every few notes due to my suckiness ( i made a new word )

does anybody have any ideas to keep me interested in classical music?.. i duno, everytime she tries to teach me a song .. i just don't wanna practice it. new parts just get me sick..

okay. i'm really desperate for help. i'm wasting my mom's money here.. (the teacher's pay).

how long have you been learning? I had lessons from when I was 5 til I was 13 and that was all classical music. I would say stick at it. It might be hard but in the long run, being able to play classical music will give you such an appreciation for it - I dont mean that you'll grow to like it. I mean that because you know how hard it is to play you'll appreciate when you hear others playing. You'll appreciate the hours of work gone into that. Trust me And it'll make you more rounded, musically.

Perhaps in your free time you can learn pieces you enjoy. You'll still be bettering yourself at piano but having fun too. But please dont give up the classical pieces!!

You don't have to enjoy playing classical to realize the obvious benefits of learning and playing it. There is probably no better style of music out there for learning proper piano-playing technique. Even if you just want to play praise and worship music, learning a bit of classical can be a great thing.

Now.... as far as actually liking it is concerned. It's really an acquired taste. It helps if you can find classical songs that don't really sound classical.... or at least sound unique. So many classical songs sound alike, and that it what (I think) makes so many people dislike classical music. Ask your teacher if she has any classical music that is unique or different from what everybody else is learning/playing.

Also, as Mari said, don't be afraid to use your free time to learn some pieces that you do enjoy playing. (just don't cut into your practice time!!)

Well.... hope this helps!

i've been playing piano for like 4 years now.. er.. but it's been in and out.

i started very young, like 7ish?.. but my first teacher died in a car crash.

i had a year of break. after a bit.. i got a new teacher.. went on for like a month.. but she quit on me.

so.. i was around 9ish.. when i got my new and now current teacher. so.. i've been starting SERIOUSLY for 2 years. but dang.. i just wish i was better, i don't have the discipline to keep playing on my own. the only GOOD reason i play.. is because i wanna be well-rounded. i could play guitar/bass, drums, sax all right.. but piano is the one i'm lacking.. and i find it EXTREMELY irritating. so i'm fighting.. and fighting. well.. obviously not very well.

yea. i'm trying to play some praise songs in the spare time. i'm trying to learn 'day after day' by tim hughes. pretty song .

i like classical music.. just when it's not played by me.
-keep the tips going

Ok well back to getting a classical song that doesn't sound classical... Cannon in D other wise known as (i'm guessing at how to spell his name) Pachabells Cannon. It's a song played at a lot of weddings and it's in an arrangment that sounds a little more modern, you could also have some fun with it and try to hear the taco bell version I personally played the song too much and got sick of it, but oh well, just a sugestion You might need a simplified version of it, but it shouldn't be too hard to find ok that's my advice

Whoever suggested Canon in D by Pachelbel was pretty smart then..... it's actually a fairly easy song (at least if you find an easy version, it is). There are all kinds of different versions of it out there. check www.mysheetmusic.com

Ohhhh...Pachelbel's Canon is SO pretty - definitely on my list that includes the top 10 prettiest songs I have like 5 arrangements of it, and even more downloaded versions of it on my comp. The arrangements range from pretty darn easy (try a Faber&Faber book) to long and rather chord-heavy (I have one arranged by Michael somebody...never mind). If you like classical music, get this song - have fun w/ it!

Well, I think that you would probably want to try and find the Taco bell version to get you more interested, it's calssical, but it doesn't sound so much as it. lol, my one friend plays guitar, but he loves Pachelbel's cannon cuz he heard the taco bell one, so he got it somewhere on the internet and if you want me to i can ask him about it... just be careful not to play it TOO much sorry i misspelled pachelbel's name earlier!!

(i was really supprised better musicians like my idea, thanx guys)
