| We had a huge debate about this in the secular music forum. (when i was unregistered)
I totally agree that he is a Christian, but as you said the rest of the band are non-christian. We came to the conclusion that only God can answer for them. He has come a long way in the past ten years since he first rebelled (or totally went way out) Though i believe he is a Christian, I do not consider him (or them)a role model in a lot of areas. Though, like i said, he is not nearly as bad as he was when they first started. I actually have not heard him cuss for a long time but that does not say much. I guess he has stopped drinking, so that is also a good sign. I really feel that he has a greater desire for the things of God and to do what is right than he used to.
The lyrics to My Sacrifice are very awesome coming form a non-Christian band. though they are not as good as alot of other lyrics from their new album. He goes way out and talks a lot about his relationship with God. Very cool.:ksmile:

The test of a true musician is not how many notes he can play in the least amount of time, but how much expression and emotion he can put into the least amount of notes.

| Why I believe Mark Tremonti is NOT a Christian 1. He is big into Slayer (VERY anti-christian, as ya all know)
2. He compares himself to Marilyn Manson:kmad:
3. He cusses like you would not believe. (my best friend does too and he's a Christian) I read something the other day, he (Mark) said the f-word 3 times in one sentence.

| Controversial subject....I would say that I like listening to their music....I like alot of what they say and don't find anything "objectionable" (except maybe the WTLF thing, but I'm not sure about that). I don't emulate their lifestyle(s), and I don't idolize them.
A good song is a good song, even if it doesn't directly mention or praise God, right?

| what do cristians think about Creed? Hey, I know some Christians are like, "stay away fromall secular music", and stuff like that, but I think Creed is a decent band.
They say "G-D" in What's this life for, but other wise alot of they're lyrics are positive.
This is my opinion on them: Creed is a secular band, though Mark Tremonti (guitarist) and Scott Stapp (singer) were raised Christian. Scott had Christianity shoved in his face.
His parents were really conservative, they say Electric guitars are from the devil and all that, so when he listened to rock music or whatever, his parents made him copy tons of Psalms down.
conclusion: he's searching for something that he found already but his parents messed it up by being soooo conservative.
What do you guys think, I'm only 15, I don't know everything.
but if you listen closely to his lyrics, he IS really searching for something.

| I'm just relieved to see you realize they are not Christians. I have heard about ten people tell me the members of Creed are Christians - but all you have to do is hear the interviews in VH1 Behind The Music and realize Scott Stapp said, "we believe the truth is out there - it's not Christianity but you can feel the truth when you are outside, alone in a beautiful place."
Okay, now that I got THAT taken care of, let me switch gears....
I LOVE the sound of Creed, I think Mark Tremonte is a guitar genius who has found a way to fuse melodic rock with grunge.
And I think the music of Creed can be very inspiring to someone who is a Christian and lets the music correlate with their love for Christ.
It was wrong of Scott Stapp's parents and his college to be so harsh and to turn him off to Christianity.

| I agree, but, Scott didn't go to college... he left home right after graduation at 17.
And I do believe that Scott S. has accepted Jesus into his heart (the reason he has experiences so much guilt), but has doubts about Christianity.
What VH1 appearance did he say that? I did not catch either one.
But...Creed's faith has been banned from debate on this site. (first thread in sec. music forum)
I agree that their music is uplifting, I actually began my search for God because of Creed...but don't tell them that |

It was on "VH1 Behind The Music: CREED" so it chronicled the whole band.
The college thing: You're right, Scott technically never made it through college, but he DID spend less than a semester (according to this TV show) in a Christian college where his parents paid for him to stay in the dorms. He got caught smoking pot there, and the college kicked him out. They had a zero-tolerance policy and told him he had no chance of getting back into school and that he was banned from the premises!

| ....and then scott went back and lived in his friends closet for a while, in the college he got kicked out of.
Then he got his own apartment... with a matress on the floor, and thats about it. That is where he wrote many of their songs...as poems.
I definetly agree that Creed is a secular band. You can tell threw his lyrics that Scott is defenitly looking for something in his life. I think that all around, hes a pretty good guy... and i love their music, but in the bible says that you are either for God or against him... and when you openly deny being christian, thats not being for God. So i think anything that would hinder your relationship you shouldnt listen too..... so just think about it

#88 | | Guest | Basically... they have spiritual lyrics.... yes, we can all agree with that... place where blind men see, streets of gold, my SACRIFICE... Scott Stapp is definitely searching for truth... but then there is that statement of the truth is out there, IT'S NOT CHRISTIANITY??? That's bogus right there... IT IS CHRISTIANITY... why??? Jesus said I am the Way, The Truth, and The Life... then He goes on to say, NO MAN CAN come to the Father but by Me (by way of Jesus that is)... So we've already established who and WHAT truth is... Jesus...
In essence, musically, they rock... totally... Mark Tremonti is guitar guru...
BUT, the issue here is their stance with the Lord.
scott might have had the bad taste of Christianity with his parents and his college... but
Let's all be praying the the Lord may draw scott and co. beause we want to see them walking those streets of Gold in the presence of the Lord with us where we can call all of them brothers....
that's my input
God bless | |

| Thanks man
I just (about 2 minutes ago) saw a recent interview done like a couple weeks ago. Scott said "...I really do not know what to believe in..." in reference to this subject.
Believe me man, I have considered Creed my "idols" and you had better believe I pray for 'em. Like I said before, I came to God because of Creed. I had almost the same exact story as he (Scott S.) did... my parents too believe that rock music is of the devil...my parents too gave me a taste of Christianity that I did not like... I too totally rejected God...I too felt a void in my life, and that is why I am so drawn to Creed. |
