What are any of your thoughts on the different brands - right now i'm leaning towards a canon rebel 2000 - but i'm not quite sure yet - any ideas?

That's what I've got, with a 100-300mm lens, and a 2x teleconverter, and I freaking love it. You won't be dissapointed.

This is a rough-legged hawk in Oregon... it's a somewhat-rare, arctic bird of prey, taken with the above mentioned camera.

the N-80 is awesome =) Lilole'me, I have taken digital photographs for a few years now, but just recently recieved an N-80 for Christmas. I love it, but I do have a question about external flashes. Do you know if there is any chance of hurting the camera putting an off brand flash on there rather than a Nikon flash? I have to research that a little bit, and how much a nikon flash goes for, but i don't even know where to start. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Matt

Here's a picture I took a few weeks ago. It's Barrie from the middle of Lake Simcoe (it's frozen about 3 feet thick right now).
