Question What's make a good guitar cable?

I wondering what guitar cable to buy. Some are expensive and some are cheap. What do you guys think about those cables? what cables do you use and why?

I don't know what is really necessary. I'd say go to a guitar store and tell them the environments you play in and they should be able to tell you what will be an adequate cable.

What makes a good cable is the insulation and construction. the insulation protects you sound from interference and the construction will alow your cable to take abuse. One of the vulnerable spots is the end where the cable is joined with the connector part (the part you stick into things, I don't know the real term). The ones with the plastic jacket that wraps around the cable and stick-in part will make your cable last for probably forever.

Talking

get the fabricy covered ones, they look cool.

aside from looks.. i like whirlwinds.. they don't give as much static as the other no-named brands.

BTW.. the planetwave one is nice.

i like the cloth covered ones as well. i just bought a RockPro calbe from GC. it's very nice, and doesn't seem to have the problem my (cheap) Fender cable had. (it was one of those califonia coil cables). the fender did not handle getting stretched well, and had problems with signal loss after a little bit of use.

Yeah the cheap Fender cables don't take use very well, they start falling apart pretty quickly...

For guitar cable, which is unbalanced, I prefer short (like, less than 15 feet) lengths of cable with good shielding. I tend to avoid gimmicks like "oxygen-free copper" or "gold plating" or stuff like that. Gold plating might be better for gear that you're going to leave plugged in for a long time, but it's not worth much on a cable that you're going to be plugging in and unplugging all the time. Basically, with guitar cable you're just looking for stuff that picks up the least amount of radio interference, especially if you play a guitar with single-coils, because then you already probably deal with enough interference from your pups....

And.....shouldn't this be in some other forum?
