Robert Jewett died in early December. I learned about it a few days later, but only caught the obituary put up by his daughter yesterday.
He was a well known and regarded NT scholar, who specialised in Paul. He wrote many books. One of the nost well known was his commentary on Romans, published in the Hermeneia series. It is over 1000pages. A mammoth tome.
He also wrote some well received books in Pauline reception (including two books on Paul in film), and works on civil religion.
He will be missed.
