| What’s driving me nuts is people’s refusal to stop gathering in large groups. We’re still seeing tons of large gatherings of people at bars and restaurants. It’s getting ridiculous. Nobody wants this to happen, I get it, but it’s selfish and childish to keep perpetuating this and assuming you’re above getting this super contagious disease. |

| They've just cancelled the camp I help out twice yearly, so I'm pretty devo about that. The government's put a limit on 100 people gatherings, so that hasn't impacted my church thus far.
We're currently investigating remote learning at work. It's annoying because people are in a panic and head office is saying "you can just do it this way" and some of the information they've been given is specifically for devices those people have, and not reflective of what we have.
So I have to help with the logistics and stuff, while also saying "you can do it, but not that way or not that easily". So far we're primarily focusing on getting stuff sorted for senior students, but also preparing for getting junior students ready in event of total closure. I think we have 4 students in isolation at the moment.

| It is quite annoying to follow the guidelines, but it can save lives (avoid an Italy/Spain situation). And people not following the instructions will end up worsening the situation (more loss of life/overloading healthcare system) and extend this difficult lockdown period.
So I can see both an incentive in reducing loss of life and reducing economic loss by following what is instructed now.
On the other side this is such a difficult time for people who have been let go, can't work or have no income during this period. Specially in less developed countries where people live of their daily earnings. Some won't have anything to eat.

| Yeah, ive been super worried about that too. Job loss is gonna be massive. In the US, I have seen that it is estimated it that unemployment could rise to 20%. What do people do??
We have been trying to continue to patronise businesses, especially restaurants. Because the circulation of capital needs to persist for the economy not to tank.

| At risk of getting political, what do you guys think of the bailout ideas being proposed? More aptly, do you think these ideas of sending $1k checks to every adult in America, postponing mortgage payments, and offering interest-free or low-interest loans to businesses so they can stay afloat will be beneficial measures?
I certainly wouldn't turn away a check for one grand, but the Economics major in me really wants to know where this money is coming from, or if we're just printing it. Fiat currency is all a farce, anyway, so that's just life, but I am curious how this will affect inflation. It seems like a really good time for cash-rich industries to dump money into the economy and into charities that can gift it to individuals and families in need.
All that said, though, is $1,000 enough? Will we need this every month for a few months like some are proposing?
Additionally, an issue a friend pointed out was that there are a lot of options on the table for homeowners, but what of renters? Many people, and most poor people, rent... Why are they not getting protections? We rent, but we will be okay for a few months financially. Many people are not in that situation *and* they just lost their jobs. What do you guys think is a viable solution? Is there one?
Lots of questions, so feel free to pick and choose what you want to discuss out of it . |

| So it seems like things are about to get visibly worse. We just hit a bad milestone of 100 deaths in a day across the US from this thing. Lord help us. Sixteen states have already issued stay at home orders, and I predict it’s only a matter of time for the rest of us. It needs to happen. |

| Tonight, we are on level 4 alert. Everything is lockdown apart from essential services.
So, work as normal. |

| The county Alyssa works in is on "voluntary lockdown", and may go into "mandatory lockdown" later on this week.

| We have our first case here in Bradford county. I imagine our congregation will be shutting down for a while. If this persists I may go ahead and move. Chris is out of school until at least April 20 but I have a feeling they may not return this school year. Schools in NC are closed until at least May 15,

| VA schools are done for the year. They may do online education, but classroom education has been canceled until next school year from the sound of it.
Everyone else have the same issue we have of way too few test kits? I’ve heard of people getting turned away even with some symptoms because of short supply. |

| One of my longtime friends who used to be an elder at my old church lost a good friend to this virus last night. I think the guy was in his 60s. I met him once or twice years ago — he was a very skilled guitarist and a minister. It was certainly before his time. I hope that these societal limits we’re implementing work. |

| The city Alyssa works in announced a voluntary shut down, and today announced it as mandatory. Because the virus is now spreading here. She still has to work. Was given a letter in case she is stopped.
