Giuseppe thinks yoga causes demonic possession

Apparently he also drives a Ferrari.

But for real, this is just bonkers. I read about the notion in college but dismissed it as being nothing. I'm baffled that the Vatican would endorse this.

It just seems similar to that lady who said the monster logo says "666" and therefore monster energy is satanic.

I'm skeptical of this because it doesn't have any links to actual news sites or even Catholic sites that back up the claim.

Plus, just look at their other articles. Examples like this suggest that this site peddles in BS.

However, it would not surprise me if, for instance, it is true that there is an increase in youngish people fetishizing vampires to the degree that they drink blood and enact rituals. And, it is certainly true that 'paganism' is on the rise in America and other places. Not to say that 'paganism' and strange, blood-drinking ritualistic behaviour go together. But, just that there is an increase in people being attracted to stuff like that.

I am not 100% completely dismissing it but there are different levels to most things.

I can remember similar talk when I was a teenager about how certain bands from the 60's and 70's dabbled in Eastern mysticism and were dragging America's youth straight to hell. Mind you, there were (and are) musicians who practice those sorts of things and I would imagine that they did influence some people to go down that road. However, not everyone converted after hearing George Harrison chant "Hare Krishna" in My Sweet Lord.

As far as things being attached to demons, my mind is more open to that sort of thing after visiting Africa and hearing stories about demons attached to knick-knacks sold in the tourist markets.

They probably are from the devil but not because of some hidden 666.

I can remember the Proctor & Gamble logo and later the Starbucks logo being accused of hiding satanic imagery.

Honestly, I'm more interested in the satanic imagery hidden on our currency and in our national monuments.

I'm way late to the game, but this site looks like it's pretty much died so if posting this late is against the rules it probably won't be detected (sad though, I have such fond memories related to this forum, I miss those days before Facebook killed everything)

Several years ago I would have laughed at the though of Yoga causing demonic oppression, or at least have been very skeptical. As time has gone by and I've gathered life experience and met many people, I do no longer balk at the suggestion. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it has happened before.

Now, across the board does Yoga cause demonic possession? I would certainly hesitate to say that, my wife used to do yoga for her back disease, mind you she stayed away from the spiritual aspect of it, but even so, it makes you wonder what doors you may be letting in. She chooses to no longer do it though. If you've ever talked to Christians that used to be new agers/physchics etc, they will tell you about demons being 'attached' to certain objects and wickins will talk about their rituals in demonic activity. So, I think the possibility is there.

A good personal friend of mine, who used to be a pretty staunch and bitter atheist, went through a bit of a life change after being introduced to the spirituality of yoga by an acquaintance of his. This led him into a very new age/eastern type of spirituality. The plus side is he is now accepting of spiritual things and I can have conversations with him about my faith and things much easier, but he is also quite set in his ways now. I of course believe he has been deceived by a demonic spirit through all of this, he certainly has had supernatural experiences but they are not from God, this as I understand is all connected with yoga or related to for him.

I've come to place of recognition of a bit more of the reality of the spiritual realm and how blind westernized Christians really are to it. I'm Canadian, and the original Canadians are the First Nations people (Americans call them Native Americans) which are made up of many different Indigenous nations, these are different people groups entirely but get lumped into one "First Nations" or "Native American". In my province the Indigenous are primarily Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, and Metis people. Anyway, though all their spirituality differs between them they do hold a lot of similarities, similar to Africa's many tribes with similarities. It's interesting that secular non indigenous Canadians (including many Christians) are very non spiritual and are ignorant to the reality of demonic activity within the culture, the doors we open up to Satan in many of the things we do and watch etc. But the indigenous here mostly very aware of spiritual things, they experience them a lot, it's crazy what a stark difference there is within this country. A couple of my closest friends are Cree Christians, and their experiences spiritually are much more tangible than mine. God speaking through dreams, crazier oppression occurs when in spiritual battle, all sorts of stuff. It's friends like these that have helped open my eyes to the reality of what could be going on in the unseen, and I believe we are so painfully ignorant and it's a dangerous thing to be so.

The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.”
