Underrated Musicians

Okay, who are some of the folks you really dig who you don't believe get their due?

I'll start by mentioning Terry Kath. He was the original guitarist (and one of the vocalists) for Chicago. He died (accidental suicide) in 1978 before Chicago completely turned into a pop ballad machine. His guitar work on the early Chicago albums is absolutely blistering. Hard core fans know who he is but the casual listener probably doesn't know much about him. I know there are apocryphal stories about nearly every guitarist out there but this was one of the guys Jimi Hendrix truly did admire. Chicago used to gig with him in the early days. You can hear the same tone and attitude in Kath's playing. Dude was incredible and died way too young.

Not everyone can carry the weight of the world.
