Sad to hear!

There aren't too many of those old horror masters left, now.

Hopefully John Carpenter has many more years ahead (and actually gets back to directing decent movies!).

George Romero passed away earlier this year and Wes Craven died two years ago tomorrow.

Carpenter is sixty-nine if I recall correctly. Same age as my mother.

FWIW...my favorite Tobe Hooper movie is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Unlike most brain dead slasher films it is an effective dark comedy with gruesome special effects by Tom Savini.

You want an interesting rabbit hole to fall down? Chase all the different opinions as to who ACTUALLY directed Poltergeist.
