| Dave Mustaine saved? Anyone know about this? For you all who don't know who Dave is: Origonal Metallica lead guitarist, kicked out because of his temper, drug abuse and drinking. Formed the notorious Megadeth, one of the most influential eighties metal bands.
If this is true, I'm glad to hear it. |

| I also just read this:
This is from the Megadeth Website:
During the first week of January, 2002, while Megadeth was on hiatus, in Texas, I suffered an injury which caused severe nerve damage to my left arm and hand. It was diagnosed as Radial Neuropathy - specifically, a "compressed radial nerve." My doctors tell me it will take about a year to make as complete a recovery as I can, and even then, we don't know how complete that is going to be. I am working hard with a great team of doctors and physical therapists daily, and God willing, someday I hope to play guitar again.
In the meantime, while I work on rebuilding my arm, I will take this opportunity to reappraise my career and my future. For the time being I have decided to exit Megadeth, and explore other areas of the music business where I might make a contribution without being able to play my instrument.
I have had a terrific time singing and playing for you while I was in Megadeth. I am truly grateful for all of the numerous Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum Records I have been awarded, as well as the many International Record Awards. And I can never thank you, our fans past and present, enough for your loyalty and affection over the years.
My immediate goals now are to do what I can to make something good come out of this terrible situation. First and foremost, I want to use this opportunity to devote more time, energy and attention to my wife Pam and my two children, Justis and Electra. Pam has done a wonderful job carrying the load while I was a long-distance husband and father in the studio or criss-crossing the world on tour, but in terms of being a Gold or Platinum parent, I have a long way to go, and I'm eager to get started.
In closing I would like to depart with the beautiful French words I wrote on the record 'Youthanasia': "A tout le monde, a tous mes amis, Je vous aime, Je dois partir." (To all the world, to all my friends. I love you, I have to leave) |

| Need more sources please as to the salvation issue.
Not to be skeptical, but it seems to be an annual cycle in the internet community for these types of threads (e.g. - I heard Ozzy got saved, I heard Yngwie got saved, I heard Lemmie got saved, I heard all of Tool got saved etc.) and then no one furnishes any direct quotes; just hearsay.

#5 | | Guest | He's Alice Cooper's neighbor in 'zona. Interesting snippet in Entertainment Weekly w/ Alice and family commenting on 'the Osbournes' show.
the Coopers are pretty heavily involved in their local church. I've spoken with Alice on a couple occasions, and he professes a born again relationship with Christ, as does his wife, Cheryl. Alice has spoken about a good friendship with Dave, but that's it. | |

| Alice Cooper does profess to be a Christian. He has a big article in the latest HM and I read part of it the other day. As for Dave Mustaine, I also read that article in HM, and I dont think he said one way or the other. I think he said that such things were his own private business and no one else's.

| Here's part of the article, the whole thing is at What Megadeth Says - HM Magazine
"Doug, I've seen more stuff than you could possibly ever see in your lifetime. And for me to have been able to live through it is like, you know, I know there's a reason. My own pastor said that I could do more by living my life right, playing hard, and doing my gigs, than going around saying, ‘Hallelujah, Jesus loves you.' And I know that God knows that too, so I don't do that shtick. It's all these hypo-Christians that go around and say, ‘You're bad! You're this, you're that.' You know, I live my life and I do my gig. I'm a father, I'm a husband. I'm loyal to my wife and family, and that's the best thing that I can do for them."
Yeah. The true definition is "Christ-like," which is really a descriptive term. You don't go around saying, I'm like Christ. It's what someone else says of you.
"You know it as well as I do. I mean, you can aspire to live your life on . . . you know, me being in a 12-step program, one of the main tenets of this program is to treat people like you want to be treated. And that goes back to the Sermon on the Mount, where there are the two new commandments that Christ put down. One about, ‘love God with all your whole heart, soul, mind and body,' and the other one about, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' That's how I do it. Those are the two core things I live by. My son knows that there are two rules in our house: respect and obedience. We have one teaching manual that we use."
I guess the other side of that someone else is really supposed to call you a Christian, and not yourself, when you use the pure definition, on the flip side of that is somebody that will deny Christ. And some people will think that if you're not calling yourself a Christian, you're automatically denying Him, which isn't necessarily true.
"I don't have to go around saying I'm a Christian, because it puts too much pressure on everything. When people ask me what my faith is, I will say that, ‘Yeah, I believe in God. I talk to Him every day.' Every day, I get up in the morning and I pray. I pray before meals. My son prays. But my son's also into martial arts now, because we know that when we're down here we need to protect ourselves."

| -Yeah, Dave Mustaine was saved a few years ago. I think it was before or during the "Countdown to Extinction" album. Not sure if he still is or not, but that is between him and Jesus. Only those two know for sure.
-I remember reading an article in Guitar World, I think. Dave was being asked about being a Christian and his answer was "Yes, I love Jesus". He was being grilled fairly well about it, but he never backed down about it. He also said something about knowing that Megadeth will probably lose fans and album sales because of that, but it didn't matter to him.
-One way he put it was like this. He said "Draw a circle and put a dot in the center of it. That dot in the center is God. Everything else inside the circle is your family and friends. Megadeth is on the edge of the circle, and everything else that doesn't matter is on the outside".
L8R,
Matt D.

His latest single "Dreamer" includes the line "Your higher power may be God or Jesus Christ, it doesn't really matter much to me." Quote: Originally posted by Jay42 I heard all of Tool got saved | False. This rumor probably came from the fact that the new album is much less negative than others in the past and has some spiritual-esque themes.
As for Dave, I pray that he is, and if that is in fact true, then praise God! |

| Thanks Travis for the additions.
But the way you quoted me makes it look like I believed all those guys were saved! I was asserting that I didn't think they were.
You probably knew that already, but what will everyone else reading this think?! My reputation is much more important than any of these conversations!!!!
(except some of the Cheap Posts - man those slay me!)

| Alice Cooper is a christian and his dad is either a minister or involved in ministry in some way. We just had a rather lengthy discussion about Alice here a week or so ago. He has actually been a christian since 94'. As far as Mustaine goes...........If he has given his life to Christ then I am very happy. I have never been a huge fan but it warms my heart. I saw a show about Megadeth on VH1 a week or two ago and he sounded peaceful. He has been through hell but he is headed for heaven. (assuming he is a christian). Pray for him.
