i know this is an old thread, and i love David Carr and all but i can't believe that so many people listed him as one of the best

the only drumming that i ever thought was outstanding in christian music was spinning/upside down/dual drum solo from the newsboys Step up to the microphone tour

I was beaten to this, but Colaiuta is indeed a Christian, and has toured with many christian artists and performed on many of their albums... he is, hands down, the best Christian drummer...

1) Sam Matthews in my opinion is the best drummer I have ever
heard. He plays drums for Brian Duncan. Even though blues isn't
my favorite style of music, Sam Matthews makes it worth going
to a Brian Duncan concert. Matthews is a left handed drummer.

2) Chad Buttler of Switchfoot!! HE IS AWESOME!!

Well I know that noone has thought of this one but if you were to see them live you'd think different.

Lauren Barlow of Barlowgirl

On the CD she sounds like another drummer but live she will literally tear a drumset apart.

Hutch played for Earthsuit and is now with Macrosick. He has great style and pretty darn good chops. He does some nice funk/reggae grooves and the jumps into some pretty straight up rock stuff and then might throw some jazzy stuff in there (at least on early and late 'Suit stuff). Good player.

Jason played for the Supertones up 'til 2000. Again, I dig the style.

From RhythmicAndy

In Dallas(i think), somewhere on TX, there is a christian drumming conventio. There are guys like Alex Acuna, Steve Smith, Derico Watson, etc. Some big names i didn't know about. Modern Drummer did an article on it back in summer, august or july edition. It's worth checking out.

Definately Vinnie! Steve Smith is awesome, and I like Zoro too! I've never heard a "Christian band" drummer who really impressed me. Of course they are "playing for the music" and never bother to show off. I've heard Wuv- I could spank him.
