Kombucha

I have someone who is insisting that I need to give this a shot.

Anyone?

Kombucha is my drug of choice. I like pretty much every brand I've tried, some are more vinegar-y than others.

Actually, I've been getting into fermented things in general (see my thread about kvass :P )

I used to make kombucha, but Patrick hates the smell so I haven't made it in a long time. I love it, and it's good for your gut.

Tops has the KeVita brand on the shelf and some of the flavors intrigue me but I just can't seem to pull the trigger. It sounds so...well...gross. It took me YEARS to ever get up the courage to eat yogurt for similar reasons.

KeVita is a company that makes kefir, which is not the same thing as kombucha.

What other brands are on the shelf?

I thought kefir is a milk product. The stuff on the shelf says kombucha. They also have another product labelled sparkling probiotic drink and one made from apple cider vinegar. None have milk in them

KeVita is the only brand they carry.

KeVita does make Kombucha. My favorite store brand is something hippie sounding like Enlightened or something, particularly the kind with chia seeds in it. Yum.

Edit: It's GT's Enlightened Kombucha. There's also one called Synergy which is maybe the same brand? Not sure. I like the Cherry Chia flavor best, but I've tried lots of them. It's also not hard to make, but takes a week to ferment.

Picked up a bottle of KeVita's Master Brew Kombucha today. I got the ginger flavor.

The bottle describes the flavor as bold and delicious. They definitely got the bold right. I'll try the Strawberry-Lemon next time.
