...anyone here tried it? Or made it themselves? I tried it for the first time on Saturday night when a woman from church offered me some (home-made!) after Great Vespers on Saturday.

For those who don't know, kvass is a Russian drink made with bread (usually stale) - typically pumpernickel or rye, soaked in water and with sugar and yeast added, and allowed to ferment for 5 days or so. It typically has an alcohol content similar to near-beer (around 0.5% ABV), but it can also have an alcohol content as high as light beer. Sometimes it's got hops, and raisins or other fruit in it.

You can find it on street corners in the summer in most major Russian and Ukrainian cities.

I believe, O Lord, and I confess, that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the Living God, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief...
~ Ryan Isaac

You descended into the tomb, O Life Immortal,
You destroyed the power of death!
In victory You arose, O Christ God,
Proclaiming rejoice to the myrrh-bearing women,
Granting peace to your apostles,
And bestowing resurrection on the fallen!
