It (2017)

Just watched the teaser trailer. It (pun intended) is already scarier than that TV mini-series. Doesn't hurt having one of the Stranger Things kids in it.

It - Teaser

This is one of the best trailers I've seen in a long time.

I think what set it apart from trailers for a lot of other horror movies (beyond just being a seemingly solid take on a well-loved Stephen King horror story) is that it didn't rely on jump scares. It relied on setting a REALLY unsettling atmosphere, where everything just seemed wrong somehow.

Also, the music used in the teaser and the way they used it was phenomenal.

I really want to see this.

Looks way more scary than the first iteration.

I agree.

The first adaptation was made-for-tv so it was probably doomed from the very beginning.

This one looks genuinely scary.

Haven't had the chance. I pretty much work nights now except on "church" days.

Unless something unplanned happens, Robin and I are going to see this a week from tomorrow. I'm working 11:30 until 4:30 so we're having Date Night.

I didn't realize (or I forgot) that the movie will have two parts. This one is the story of what happens during their childhood. Part Two is what happens when they're adults.

Part of me is glad that they have put this in contemporary times but I'm still skeptical because I am such a fan of the book.

Just came back from it.

I honestly didnt find it very scary at all. I think it made a great kids coming together and bonding type movie. The 'scary' parts were by far the weakest.

But, I really enjoyed the movie. I dont regret seeing it and would be willing to watch it again. Just not in the cinema.

Robin and I saw it last night. It wasn't scary. It was creepy though. I do like the way Skarsgård plays Pennywise. It would have been tempting to just duplicate Curry.

The chemistry between the kids was great. Countless people who are unaware will swear that this is ripping off Stranger Things and it may be but considering the source material, I guess it is understandable. Can you really rip off something that was heavily influenced by the original source material? Perhaps.

It's been a long time since I've either read the book or seen the mini-series so I don't recall just how much they retained or altered. I may jump back into the book now while we wait for Chapter Two.

Overall...it was a good movie.

Watching Eddie's mother freak out and load him in the car to take him to the hospital—all while Ben is quietly standing in the yard with his torso basically ripped open was..........hilarious? I laughed so hard at the sheer absurdity of the scene.
