Yeah, putting together a PC is fairly simple, its basically adult lego really, match pegs to holes. If you're planning on doing much gaming(even lower graphics stuff), it might be a good idea to look into a lower tier graphics card, rather than relying the integrated graphics on your cpu

Personally, I haven't loved Dell for prebuilts, but YMMV

That's why I recommended an AMD APU. The CPUs don't outperform the Intel equivalents, but the GPU does much better than Intel integrated, while remaining somewhat efficient. They use slightly modified APUs in the latest consoles.

I mean, in his budget you could certainly justify a 960. I'm just one of those people who prefers to go for meeting needs than overspending for something that doesn't really get used.

This will get you started (and is stylish to boot). You can always add a video card later if you feel the need.
