A capella

Sometimes acapella is spelled with and without the space.

Honestly, I don't enjoy a(_)capella.

It just gets on my nerves.

I have visions of Andy Bernard when I hear it, no matter how well done.

a little acapella at the end of a song is ok. otherwise it creeps me out. and yet sometimes I am coerced to sing acapella songs in church because I drop a mean bass.

Every now and then we have to sing a cappella out of necessity.

Orthodox Christians do not use instruments in our worship, so we're all a cappella, all the time.

I sing bass and (on a good day) tenor in our choir. I'll post a recording some time. Given our jurisdiction, the OCA, is of Russian heritage, most of our music sounds distinctly Russian (we use two major styles of singing, Kievan Chant and Obikhod, or Russian Common Chant, for most of our singing), but were more of a mixed bag of different musical traditions than an actual Russian church might be.

~ Ryan Isaac

Lo! How a rose e'er blooming from tender stem hath sprung,
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as seers of old hath sung,
It came a flower bright, amid the cold of winter,
When half-spent was the night.

Isaiah t'was foretold it, the rose I have in mind,
With Mary we behold it, the Virgin Mother kind,
To show God's love aright, she bore to us a Saviour,
When half-spent was the night.

O flower whose fragrance tender with gladness fills the air,
Dispel with glorious speldour the darkness everywhere,
True man, yet very God! From sin and death He saves us,
And lightens every load.

All the local Methodists sing like that here.

It would probably be more enjoyable if I could speak the language
