Vince has turned into a fantastic role player, and still has the ability to take over a game when necessary. But he is definitely old.

Even my Jayhawks basketball, which had nearly every game televised locally on over-the-air broadcast stations, have bidded the contract to pay channels. I am lucky if I can catch 5-10 games a year.
I did Sling TV last year for college basketball.

We're back to satellite TV for the time being.

He'll be forty in January.

He does what he can I guess that's admirable.

Has it really been over sixteen years since THE dunk contest?

Wow.

He's not too shabby for an old dude.

Back on topic.

I watched UNC win the Maui Invitational the other night and I think that this team is better than last year's team at this point in the season. They lost Paige and Johnson but the guys that are back have one more year of experience and look like they're playing with a purpose. It reminds me of the attitude Hansbrough had his entire senior season. He got so close to a championship that he could taste it and he didn't stop until he got it.

There are obviously some teams with more raw talent out there but this is an experienced group of guys and they are playing together. Their defense has really impressed so far.

I realize that I am biased but I think Joel Berry may be one of the best PG in the country right now.

One thing that impressed me with the win was that UNC played a much slower pace than they normally do and that should have played into Wisconsin's favor. They STILL outplayed them and were up by twenty when Roy pulled the starters. The Heels have been know to get sloppy and lose focus when they have to shift down a gear or two but they adjusted and still put it on Wisconsin.

1. Grayson Allen will end up being the most hated Dookie of all time.

2. Mad props to Louisville. Can't say that I was pulling for UK.

3. I did catch a replay of the UNC/UK game. That was some March Madness type stuff there.

The young man need to learn the difference between having passion to play, and trying to win at all costs. His reputation is already engraved, and it will take a herculean effort to change the perception opposing teams/fans will have regarding him.

KU lost their 7 ft big man for the season due to a wrist injury in practice. We'll see how they adjust and move forward. He was just a freshman, but was expected to contribute a significant amount of minutes.

Conference season should be interesting, as KU has a chance to tie the record for consecutive conference championships. Normally I wouldn't give that much thought as bigger fish to fry always takes the most important task, but records like this don't happen often at all, and I actually never thought they would have a chance to get there, with the current "one-and-done" culture surrounding college bb.

In UK-land it will likely remain Christian Laettner. But they'll hate on Grayson Allen too, lol.

Understandably. The stakes were pretty high in that game.

Grayson just acts like a punk.

Hmmm.

Coach K is taking a hiatus. Last time that happened, Duke finished last in the ACC and the assistant coach at the helm got fired.

I wonder if Jeff Capel is nervous?

They are 2-3 in the five games they've played since K went out, including a loss AT HOME to NC State last night. That's the first time State has won in Durham since 1995 which, incidentally, is the same season K sat out and the team was coached by assistant Pete Gaudet (who was eventually fired).

This is the same State team that UNC just beat by 51 points. Of course, it's the same UNC team who lost its ACC opener to Georgia Tech by 12.

Crazy times.

Kansas has a really tough schedule over the next week or two. Begins tonight at West Virginia and of course the big one Saturday versus Kentucky, the only team in the NCAA with more wins than KU. This Kansas team is so tough to gauge. Youth is something pretty common on blueblood teams, but this one particularly doesn't seem to enjoy playing any defense. I think it will be our downfall this season.
