Logan

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the first trailer for Hugh Jackman's final film as Wolverine has been released, and it looks fantastic, IMO. Definitely seems to be a far cry from the tone of most of the previous X-Men related films:

Thoughts?

Not that I won't watch it... but Fox needs to get over their Wolverine fetish. It's almost too bad Hugh Jackman is such a good Wolverine. I wanted to see more Origins movies, not more wolverine movies. But I'll watch it.

It looks really interesting and dark in the trailers. Definitely sets up for something that looks intense.

I daresay that's what this is seeking to do. I mean they're going to replace him with X-23 but I daresay they're not going to focus as heavily on Wolverine as they have been once Logan is done.

Right, but the original plan was not to focus on just him. Or so I read somewhere.

Anyone else seen it yet?

It's really good. Great performances from Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman and adult themes which make for a great character study. The film avoids the types of spectacle you see is most comic book movies. Instead it focuses on people.

It's a hard R. Packed with F-bombs, brutal and gory violence, and a quick shot of boobs.

Haven't seen it yet.

I've heard it can be a described as a sort of "modern western", or at least a movie that has the spirit of a western. Is that true?

Yep.

It's from the director of 3:10 to Yuma. It shows.

Saw it yesterday, really really good, makes me wish they did more "superhero" movies like it. So much better than the standard Save The World schtick

It was amazing! Definitely my favourite X-Men movie of all time. It felt so real (character wise) and well done. Definitely a fitting conclusion to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

I watched it last week. Wow. Just wow.

I was surprised by how emotional of a movie it was. And, echoing others, so glad it wasn't 'gotta save the world' type thing.

I admit to be frustrated with an aging Wolverine. It was weird seeing him so powerless at certain points.

Is this setting up new movies that focus on the girl and the other mutants? I know it isn't in the comics, so it is new territory.

Also, will there be a new Wolverine? X-Men as a franchise is far from over. I wonder if there will be a reboot or something.

If so, I vote Tom Hardy for Wolverine. Short-ish, has a sort of animalistic quality, looks busted up.

X-23 is the current Wolverine in the comics. Logan has been dead for almost 3 years.

The Film Theorists (youtube channel) had an interesting video on "The real cause of Logan's death".
