New Star Trek Tv Series (January 2017)

...but it will only be on CBS's new streaming streaming services.
...and no plot specifics or other relevant information.

Star Trek New Star Trek Series Premieres January 2017

In other news, today CBS decided to provide a free tutorial on how to make a big exciting announcement which only frustrates the core audience.

Bryan Fuller named showrunner of new "Star Trek" series

‘Star Trek’: Bryan Fuller Named Showrunner of CBS’ TV Series Revival | Variety

This series, which Fuller is teaming up with Alex Kurtzman on, will start in January 2017.

Thoughts? Personally, I LOVED what I saw of Hannibal and I can't wait to see what direction Fuller takes Star Trek in (apparently, Fuller began his career writing for Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine).

I'm interested because it's a new Star Trek TV series. The nature of the original concept of Star Trek lends itself to television more than films. One of the biggest complaints about JJ Trek is that the stories are very Earth-centric. There's little exploring or trekking.

Trek thrives when it can explore strange new worlds each week and explore ideas.

Plus as movies they tend to be BIG stories, and TV can do small stories as well as big.

Star Trek Discovery

The official title for the new Star Trek series (debuting in January) is Star Trek Discovery. The first teaser trailer dropped today. All you really get to see is the ship.

In the comic con panel the said:

"We're not going to be doing it episodic. We're going to be telling stories like a novel."

It has been delayed until May. Given the lack of information they've released, I'm not surprised at all.

I'm hoping not rushing means that it will be decent.

It's the kind of property which they could easily over-think. I wonder how much the strange performance of Star Trek Beyond is messing with their heads. The movie had solid reviews, but did poorly at the box-office.

But they have officially started shooting at least!!!!

It's kind of heart breaking just how low my expectations are for this.

Same here...

Do you know if it still will only be available for streaming through CBS's streaming service? Not sure I want to pay for that (or is it free?). Also, not even sure it will be available over here....

As far as I'm aware (and I'm following somewhat closely), it's still only on the CBS streaming service which costs like $5 per month.

Hm.

I hope they have more than just that one show that is worth watching. I suppose, if worse comes to worst, I could just wait until the full season is out and just watch it over a month!

I mean, yeah, pretty cheap. But, I'm a bit worried about having to have many different subscriptions in order to see all that is worth seeing. Already encountered that with Amazon, which seems to only let Prime customers see original content.

If they're going to find cheap ways to take your money, I'm all for finding cheap ways to save money.
