Saw it this evening. It's not life-changing, but it was pretty funny. I liked it. Everyone in my theater seemed to be having a lot of fun.

That's about right. It's fun and funny. It's biggest problems all come from the inevitable comparisons. They brought in a talented cast and crew and therefore they delivered a good movie. It just lacks the magic of the original.

I thought since I have some free time right now I might as well take back up movie reviewing.

Here's my review of Ghostbusters

I picked this up yesterday evening from Redbox. It was alright. I can say that if this was the first, there would not be a second or remake. It had enough laughs for a film, but it wasn't anything noteworthy. It was worth the $.53 I paid to rent it, but it wouldn't be worth owning to watch again.

Leslie Jones is the standout of the film.

I still haven't convinced myself to watch it.

I had a coupon code for $1.00 off, so I took advantage of it.

I would probably pay $1.50 to rent it...if there was absolutely nothing else available.

I don't know that I would pay full price for it.

Whoa. $1.50 is too much?

Man, I've paid much more to watch truly terrible movies.

Wha??

I absolutely disagree. Kate McKinnon stood out like crazy to me.

I actually really liked it. I will very likely watch it again.

Having never watched the original, I thought it would be a funny movie to watch. Even if it has a bad rating in IMDB, I thought it might be fans of the old movie.

I was so disappointed. It was boring, unfunny and awkward. Couldn't even finish the movie. That was a few weeks ago.

Funny thing. After watching it I went on IMDB. If you go into the ratings... women rate it very high, men very low. Do women and men have different senses of humor, in general?

I suspect the response to this film has little to dow with the movie itself and everything to do with hot button issues in popular culture.

The movie itself is a mediocre Hollywood productunworthy if the amount of discussion it sparked.

But this throwaway attempt at a blockbuster became lightning rod for:

* social justice warriors
* anti-social justice warriors
* people angry at Hollywood for making remakes
* people angry with people angry about Hollywood making too many remakes
* ghostbusters fan boys
* people angry with fan biys

I tried to watch this last night and made it to the Bill Murray cameo. That's as far as I could make it. I don't think I laughed one time up to that point. I may try to finish it tonight but I may not.

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't finish it. It's nothing like the older ones.
